In Memory of Doris Ann Leslie
Doris Ann Leslie of Puxico, daughter of the late Delbert and Mildred Ashbaugh Townsend, was born in Puxico, on September 9, 1937, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri on January 6, 2018, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Doris had lived in Granite City Illinois, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota before moving to Puxico in 1985. She had worked in commercial laundry service. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

On October 1,1955 in Tunica Mississippi she married James Leslie he survives in the home in Puxico.

Surviving are three daughters, Joan Frintz of House Springs, Missouri, Karen Woods of Farmington, Missouri, and Carol Harrington, of Ballwin, Missouri; one grandson, Jason Woods; one great granddaughter Coty Woods; one sister, Donna Reining of Mesa Arizona. Other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Holem and one brother, John MacDonald Townsend.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with Bro. Buck Cruse of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Calvin John LeGrand
Calvin John LeGrand, 79, of Oran passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1938 in Oran to the late Zeno and Weldon Antonia Stike LeGrand.

Calvin was a retired dispatcher and operator for I.C.G. Railroad Co. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. Calvin was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4311 in Oran. He was an avid horseman; he enjoyed providing the horse and wagon rides for the K.C. 4th of July Picnic in Oran and hosting friends and family at the farm. Calvin also loved playing pool at the K.C. hall. As a side job he delivered the daily newspaper for forty plus years.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Richard) Scherer of Benton; Lorena (Steven) Gebhardt of Oran ; two brothers, Ronnie LeGrand of Dexter, Sam LeGrand of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Judith King of Oran, Betty Stewart of Clinton, Mississippi, Arlene Harrell of Chaffee, Sandy Hahn of Oran; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Gage, Reece & Jude Scherer and Shelby, Dustin, Samuel & Sophia Gebhardt. He is also survived by a Godmother and Aunt Arabella Stike of Cape Girardeau.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Norman LeGrand and two sisters, Ruth Ann Urhahn and Marilyn Diebold.

Friends may call after 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 pm followed by K.C. Prayer service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.

Floyd "Sodie" Hampton, 89, of Malden died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at The Village of St. Peters in St. Peters, MO.

He was a salesman for the Morton Salt Company of Chicago, a partner in Hampton Insurance and Real Estate and an agent for Farmers Insurance Group for 26 years.

Sodie attended the Cross Country Trail ride in Eminence, MO. for 47 consecutive years and was a long time auctioneer.

Born in Malden, MO. on May 13, 1928 he was the son of Felix Sr. and Fletie Hampton.

On January 14, 1985 he was united in marriage to Ruth Whiteley, who survives. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers: Herbert, Fred, Victor, Clarence, Walter, Wyman, David and Felix Jr.; 4 sisters: Mattie, Ruth, Helen and Maxine. Survivors include: 2 sons-Bill Hampton and wife, Connie, of DeLand, FL.; John Hampton and wife Peggy, of Malden, MO; 2 step children-Charles Whiteley and wife Ava of St. Peters, MO; Jodie Schieferle and husband, Mark of Naples, FL; 2 grandchildren William R. Hampton and J.J. Hampton, 2 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 9:00 AM at Landess Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM in the chapel with Reverends Aulden LeBlanc and James Hamlett officiating.

A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, MO.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a church or charity of your choosing.

Crystal Lynn Carter Thomas, daughter of Judy Smiley Carter and the late Sherman Carter, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on December 2, 1979 and departed this life at her residence in Bernie, Missouri on January 4, 2017 at the age of 38.

Ms. Thomas was a waitress and a resident of Rural Bernie, Missouri.

Survivors include her mother, Judy Carter of Bernie, Missouri; by three sons, Javin Thomas of Bernie, Missouri, Jadin Thomas and Jace Thomas both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by one brother, Bryan Carter of Harviell, Missouri; also by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her father, Sherman Carter, by one brother, Darrin Carter; by one sister, Tracie Carter Young.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.  Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie at 1:00 P.M.   Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Sam Latkovich
Sam Latkovich, 90, of Dexter, MO, passed away on December 31, 2017 in Dexter, MO.

Visitation and memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at a later date.

Sam was born in Baden, MO to Stojan and Jeka Latkovich on July 19, 1927. He was a machinist and worked as a building facilities and equipment mechanic for TWA for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and telling fish stories, traveling, helping family and friends, as well as talking and sharing stories.

Sam is survived by his wife, Helen (nee Jenkins) of Dexter, MO, his children; Larry Latkovich (Kay), Kenneth Latkovich (Paula), Jennifer Walsh. Grandchildren: Angela Latkovich, Laura Stokes (Robert), Megan Coffel (Shawn), Katie Walsh, Alexandra Latkovich. Sam had 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mile, Cody, and sister, Eva.

Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1002 Saddle Spur Road, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Faith Lutheran Church family as well as their loving family and neighbors.
