Game #13 Bloomfield Christmas Tournament Dexter vs Kennett

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats and the Kennett Indians faced off in Game #13 of the 2017 Bloomfield Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, December 27th.

Dawson Kasting was a key player and Coach Dowdy's plan to shut down Kennett's athlete Patrick Maddox was implement quite well by the Bearcats.  Maddox had scored close to 30 points in the last three games.  The Bearcats held him to just 3 tonight.

"If you look at the box score, you would not even know Dawson Kasting played," commented Dexter head boys basketball coach Josh Dowdy.  "If you were at the game, I think you would know that his presence was known.  Dawson's effort tonight was tremendous.  Maddox has scored close to 30 the last three games.  He was held to three tonight.  it was the key to the game.  We had a plan and Dawson executed it!"

They were tied at the end of the first period 16-16, but Dexter held Kennett to just 9 points in the second quarter giving them a 4 point lead going into the locker room at half time.

The third quarter was big for Dexter as the Bearcats sank five buckets and one trey by Ben Sindle.  Sindle had three 3-pointers against the Indians.

Clay Mullins had 10 points for Dexter after missing the opening game against Richland due to an ankle injury.

"It was nice to see Clay back on the court," continued Dowdy.  "He has been wearing me out on the bench to put him in. He finally won at halftime. He came out and played a very nice half."

Gabe Jackson finished with a team-high 14 points.  Seth Rogers and Alan Pippins added some nice treys for the Bearcats.

"I thought our men on the bench came in and made some solid contributions," stated Dowdy.  "Nate had some nice rebounds and made some great post feeds.  Seth handled the point position real well in the first half.  He even asked me at halftime what he needed to do to get better.  That is always good to hear."
