Dexter, Missouri - The last time Dexter and Sikeston faced off in boys basketball was back on February 27th when the Cats nearly beat the Bulldogs in a semifinal district game losing 56-54.  

Sikeston senior Fred That scored a game-high 29 points and had 11 rebounds and six steals to lead the Bulldogs to victory.

The Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers sank 13 treys.

Dexter came out hot and created a 15-11 lead early in the first quarter at the Bearcat Event Center on Friday night.

In the second quarter the Bulldogs just exploded earning 30 points in the second quarter

"Tonight we came out and executed well on both ends of the floor early in the game," commented Dexter head boys basketball coach Josh Dowdy.  "In the second quarter, we had three costly turnovers in a row that sparked their run.  When we turn the ball over, we are scrambling on defense and Sikeston thrives in those situations." 

Ben Sindle led the Bearcats with 22 points, including 5 3-pointers.  Clay Mullins added 20 points.

"We are not lacking in effort and the guys are trying to do what we ask of them. In order for us to improve, we are going to have to have a few guys step up and help in a number of roles....rebounding, defense, and ball handling," continued Dowdy.

Tonight's loss marks the 20th straight win for Sikeston over Dexter dating back to 2004.

"Sikeston has a very good team this year. They are a tough matchup, but when they hit 13 of 28 three pointers they are even more difficult to control. We won't have much time to breathe-we face Charleston again on Monday," Dowdy stated.

The Sikeston Junior Varsity have won 5 in a row with their 72-48 win over Dexter.

Payton Howard led the Bulldogs with 20 points, nine assists and four steals.  Clark Steward had 12 points and ten rebounds.
