Dexter Public School Board Meeting Minutes - Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter R-XII School Board met at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Below are the minutes from that meeting.
1,2,3. Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with everyone being present. He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance.
4. Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved.
5. Public Comments: There were no public comments made.
6. Old Business: None
7. New Business:
A. The board approved the annual MUSIC insurance policy renewal,
including umbrella and cyber coverage.
B. The board approved replacement of the old camera system at the
high school.
C. The board approved replacement of the door security system at
the high school and added an additional secured door located at the
BEC.
D. The board approved an amendment on the signature for First
Commercial Bank
8. Discussion Items:
A. Dr. Williams presented the district APR score for this year.
The district received 138 out of 140 points for 98.6% of the
overall points.
B. The nurses report provided by Linda Milam, was shared with the
board by Mr. Counts.
D. The building principals gave their reports to the board.
E. Mr. Counts reported to the board on the district's enrollment at this point in the year. He also presented information from the October meeting of the Long Range Planning Committee. The committee developed a plan to access the needs of each building and will be touring each building in the near future.
F. The December board meeting was set for December 19, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
G. The board approved the dates for board candidates to file for the
board elections for April 2018. The dates are from December 12th at
8:00 a.m. thru January 16th at 5:00 p.m.
H. The board approved the Kastner Scholarship Trustees.

1. The board employed the following substitutes teachers for the remainder of the 2017-18:

2. The board approved the employment of a substitute bus driver for the remainder of the 2017-18.

3. The board approved the employment of paraprofessionals for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year.

4. The board approved the following retirement letters effective at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year:

McKuin Named to Homecoming Court at Williams Baptist College

Melanie McKuin, a sophomore at Williams Baptist College and a 2016 Dexter High School graduate, was an attendant in the Homecoming Court.
She is the daughter of Barry and Kim McKuin of Dexter and the granddaughter of Gary and LeVeda Scates of Dexter.
Melanie plays basketball in college and is a pre-pharmacy major.
Williams Baptist College is located in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and will become Williams Baptist University in July of 2018.

Bernie Positive Office Referrals for Week of November 27, 2017

Bernie, Missouri - Kellie Owens, Bernie R-12 School District, has announced the students who received Positive Office Referrals for week November 27, 2017.
Students who earn such an honor also received a Subway Sandwich Gift Card and a POR Certificate.
These students were referred for displaying positive behavior!
Drake Taylor is a 4th grader in Mrs. Baker’s class.
Mrs. Baker referred Drake for helping another student.
Noah Summers is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class.
Mrs. Collier referred Noah for helping another student.
Shawn Beasley is a 2nd grader in Mrs. Dockins’ class.
Mrs. Dockins and Mrs. Huber referred Shawn for working so hard in class and doing well on his reading test.
Macie Botsch is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class and was referred by Mrs. Collier for helping another student.
