Frontenac, Missouri - With their first win at the St. Joseph's Academy Turkey Shootout the Lady Cats of Dexter felt pretty good going into their second game of the season against state ranked Kirkwood Lady Pioneers.
Sophomore Natalie Bruns made an immediate impact, helping Kirkwood beat the Lady Cats. She finished with a game-high 20 points.
Jadiah Stewart also finished in double digits recording 14 including 2 treys for the Lady Pioneers.
Dexter held Kirkwood close in the first quarter trailing by only 3 points, but it was the second half when Kirkwood went for the kill. The Lady Pioneers exploded holding Dexter to 20 points while they racked up 32 giving them a 55 - 35 win.
Chaylea Mosby recorded 18 points for a team-high performance. She also had three treys.
"We've got to establish an inside game," stated Dexter Lady Cats' coach Chad Allen. "We added a new offense this year which will take some time, but hopefully it won't take too long for it to be effective. Also, our defense and rebounding have got to get better along with our communication."
