ShowMe Times Dexter Football Players of the Week vs Ste. Genevieve

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football Athletes. Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player and one defensive player who will be featured as Players of the Week.

Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.

This week was a tough decision as so many players contributed in ways that did not reflect on the stats sheet against Ste. Genevieve; however only two players were chosen.

The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the Players of the Week are Seth Rogers and Caleb Hoggard. Each will receive a Lotta Pig Basket from Dexter Queen!

The Offensive Player of the Week is junior, #16 Caleb Hoggard. Caleb had 25 carries for 100 yards. His longest carry was 17 yards.

Caleb was a work horse for us, carrying it 25 times for 100 yards," stated head football coach Kevin Goltra. "He ran hard and didn't turn over the ball. We have to get that from him every week to be successful."

The Defensive Player of the Week is junior, #21 Seth Rogers. Seth read the Ste. Gen Dragons' quarterback well and picked off a fourth-down pass/interception traveling 85 yards for the first touchdown of the game giving the Bearcats their first lead over Ste. Genevieve in six year. This was Seth's first interception of his varsity career.

"Seth was the obvious choice as defensive player of the week due to his pick 6," commented Goltra. "But when evaluating the film, he made other great plays against the run as well. He has really come on as a safety and look for him to continue to make big plays for us."

Congratulations to both of these two fine young men on their accomplishments.

The Bearcats will be back in action when they travel to Poplar Bluff to take on the Mules Friday, August 25th. Game time 7:00 p.m.

Pigskin Pick'Em Week 2 Ready, Deadline Friday at 6 pm

Dexter, Missouri - The 7th Annual Pigskin Pick'Em Football Challenge is well under way with results from Week #1 already posted. Week #2 will feature 15 high school games and will open at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20th. Deadline for Week #2 is 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 25th.

Week #1 had 12 games. Week #2 has 15 games. As the season gets in high gear, more high school games will be added, college and pro games will also fill a few of the slots. It will be an exciting 10 weeks of football action going right into the playoffs!

2017 Bloomfield High School Cross Country Schedule

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Cross Country team has released their 2017 high school schedule. Their first meet is September 9th at Arcadia Valley. There will be two opportunities to see the runners at home. They will host two meets this year. The Stoddard County Athletic Association Conference Meet will be held at Bloomfield on October 9th along with one home meet on October 12th.

7th Annual Pigskin Pick'Em Challenge Week #1 Results

Dexter, Missouri - There's still time to register for the 2017 Pigskin Pick'Em Challenge. There are weekly prizes!!! Week #1 is in the books and ShowMe Times had only ONE player who picked a perfect score! Keith Byrd leads the pack with 12 out of 12 picks!

2017 Bloomfield Junior High Girls Basketball Schedule Released

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Junior High Girls Basketball Team is ready for their second year on the court! The little lady Wildcats have been working very hard in the off-season.

They will open their season on September 12, 2017 at home against rival Advance. The JH Wildcats will also compete in the East Carter Basketball Tournament on September 15th and September 16th.

All games begin at 6:00 p.m. except Tournament which will be announced when seeds are announced.
