GARNER ANNOUNCED AS NEW EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR FOR SAINT FRANCIS
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Saint Francis Healthcare System is pleased to announce Chad Garner, BSN, CEN, RN, as the new emergency department director.
In this role, Garner is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all of the non-physician functions within Emergency Services at Saint Francis Medical Center to ensure that the services provided are in accordance with the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of Saint Francis. He will oversee a wide variety of regulatory, administrative and fiscal activities while also providing strong leadership, motivation and staff development.
Prior to joining the Saint Francis family, Garner worked in the Emergency Department in Murray, Utah, and as a clinical educator in Springfield, Mo.
He earned his BSN from Missouri State University and is finishing his MS in health promotion and wellness management from Missouri State University. Garner’s experience in two Level 1 Trauma Centers and certifications as a Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Instructor, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Instructor and a hazmat coordinator/trainer are specialties that will aid in the care of patients seen in the Emergency Department.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Saint Francis Healthcare System announces the appointment of Clayton Suggs, BSN, RPN, as the patient care manager of orthopedics and surgical for Saint Francis Healthcare System.
In his role, Suggs’ is responsible for the delivery of care, development of policies and procedures, standards of care and protocols in accordance the Saint Francis policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives.
Suggs has been an employee of Saint Francis since 2008 where he started as a staff nurse on orthopedics. In 2015, he became the assistant patient care manager for medical.
He obtained an associate of applied science in nursing from Shawnee Community College in 2008 and completed his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in 2015.

The donated coats will provide a tremendous benefit to area kids in the colder months just around the corner. Any help that the community can provide for this cause will be extremely beneficial. The Salvation Army traditionally hosts coat drives in November and Saint Francis’ collection will go toward that drive.
“The Salvation Army does so much good in communities worldwide,” says Debbie Gibson, manager of Saint Francis’ Volunteer Services and Pastoral Care. “We are honored to do our part to help, and invite everyone in and around Cape Girardeau to do the same!”
Eight donation barrels are located on the Medical Center campus: outside the Chapel of Saint Francis, in Pastoral Care and at Entrances 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8. Donation barrels are also at various Saint Francis outreach clinics: Charleston Family Care, Farmington Physician Associates, Jackson Family Care, Kneibert Clinic in Poplar Bluff, Piedmont Physician Associates in Piedmont, Physicians Park Primary Care, Poplar Bluff Neurology Specialists, Sikeston Radiation Oncology and the Saint Francis Health Center in Dexter. Coats collected outside Cape Girardeau will go to local charities in the respective communities.

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Saint Francis Healthcare System Foundation and the Saint Francis Auxiliary awarded healthcare scholarships to 23 local students on August 5. Each student received $1,250 in scholarships toward a degree in a healthcare-related profession.
The Saint Francis Healthcare Scholarship Program was created in 1980. Saint Francis Foundation and the Saint Francis Auxiliary fund the program. Since its inception, the program has provided more than $579,000 in education scholarships to college students in an effort to encourage participation in professional healthcare careers. Scholarship recipients must have completed at least one year in an accredited healthcare program and be currently enrolled, maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA and complete the application and essay requirements by the scheduled deadline. They must also reside within the Saint Francis service area, as defined in the application.

Saint Francis Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization that supports Saint Francis Medical Center by strengthening the institution overall and reaffirming its mission of supporting the community and the people it serves. Formally organized in 1976, its mission reflects the Medical Center’s priorities through fundraising efforts that support the community. The Foundation sponsors several annual events, including golf tournaments, and philanthropic activities such as annual appeals, memorials, endowment funds, planned giving, grants and major gifts.
