Jesse Lee Deardorff, 91, of the Aid Community passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home.  Jesse was born on November 10, 1925 to Floyd and Estie Deardorff in the Oak Grove Community.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Leo Deardorff and by two sisters, Marjorie Buchanan and Velma Cox.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Floella Deardorff; by one son Gary and wife Donna Deardorff; by two granddaughters, Jill Deardorff of St. Louis, Missouri and Katy and her husband Greg Tarbutton of Dexter and by three great-grandchildren who referred to him as “Big Pa”, Caroline Domyan, John Parker Tarbutton and Reese Tarbutton.   He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Jim Norris; by three sisters-in-law, Jean Norris, Martha Norris and Vera Almond and by many nieces and nephews.

Jesse joined the Marine Corps 3rd Division at the age of 17 and served in the South Pacific, the Iwo Jima and Guam invasions during World War 2.  He married Floella Norris on December 14, 1946.  They farmed and raised cattle which Jesse thoroughly enjoyed.  He was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist church his whole married life.  

Since 1979 he was a member of the Gideon’s International, a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge serving three terms as Worshipful Master and was a member of the Stoddard County Honor Guard.  Jesse also volunteered at the John J Pershing Veterans Hospital for seventeen years with his wife Flo.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 5:15 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  A masonic service will be conducted on Sunday evening at 5:00 P.M.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Joe Payne officiating.  

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Full Military Honors.

Kim Jenkins the daughter of Zella Tucker and the late Willard Jenkins was born June 10, 1959 in Van Wert, Ohio and passed away on July 25, 2017, at the age of 58 years.

Kim  attended the First General Baptist Church in Malden, MO. She worked at Gateways Shoes in Dexter & Bloomfield for 35 years.  She recently helped her sister run her business BCTs in Bernie.

Kim is survived by her mother Zella Tucker of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters Zella Carroll & husband Bobby of Bernie, MO and Rosalie Ainley & husband Carl of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Four brothers Willard Jenkins & wife Angela of Puxico, MO, Jon Tucker & Christa of Bloomfield, MO, Jim Jenkins & wife Pati of Maricopa, Arizona, and Ben Jenkins of Fermont, Indiana.   And also like their second mom, she is survived by her nephew Donnie and Cori Carroll of Malden, MO. And survived in the home by one niece Dawn and Michael Vaughn of Bernie, MO. Also by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who she loved as well.

She was preceded in death other than by her father, Willard Jenkins, also by her step-father, James Tucker; also by one sister, Christina Sumner.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Stewart Allen Clark officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Daniel Acevedo, 42, passed away on July 17, 2017 at his home in Harrisburg, NC.

Danny was born July 16, 1975 to Felix Acevedo (Doris) and Amy Henriksen (Steve) in Paterson, NJ.

Danny is survived by his parents as well as his son Jullian, daughter, Lexi and their mother Rebecca Harshaw. Survivors also include his siblings Camilo Acevedo, Leonardo Acevedo, Yaliza Acevedo, Linda Acevedo, Olga Acevedo, Dylan Acevedo, Alejandra Acevedo, and Andrés Acevedo; his companion in recent years Nadia Herrera; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a Dexter High School graduate, class of 1993.

Danny was a caring young man, who loved his children more than any one else in the world and found comfort knowing he was in God's hands. He had a heart of gold, was friendly, compassionate and generous to all who knew him. Danny was a hard working man who throughout the years perfected his craft and was proud of his accomplishments. As a wallpaper hanger, he loved to get in front of a wall and perform his special kind of magic! Danny enjoyed golfing, the beach and was passionate about spending as much time as possible with Jullian and Lexi specially during the summer. His physical absence will leave an empty space in our lives, but he will live in our hearts every day for ever. 

Danny is preceded in death by his grandparents Félix (Ana) Acevedo and Enrique (Aminta) Consuegra and beloved cousins Starsky Garcia and Marcia Consuegra.

A grave side service will be held Wednesday, July 26th. 2017 at 10:30 am  at Dade Memorial Park, Miami Florida.  

Eric Lee Uhrhan, 21 of Scott City passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, in an auto accident at St. James, Missouri.  

He was born July 19, 1996, in Cape Girardeau to Wesley and Sharon Ressel Uhrhan.

Eric graduated from Scott City High School in 2014. He was a student at Southeast Missouri State University.  

He was employed at Midsouth Wire in Scott City.

He loved life. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do, from an all-night game of dunk ball with friends, to a softball game for the Dominators. He loved playing golf and a friendly round of Frisbee golf with his friends. He will be missed by all.

Eric is survived by his parents; his sister, Lori (Wes) Short of Scott City, and the love of his life, his fiancée Alicia Kern. They were to be married Aug. 19.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the church with the Rev. Joe Weidenbenner as celebrant.

Burial will be at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Kelso.

William Lemons, son of the late William Russell Lemons Sr. and Maxine Maisel Lemons was born on December 5, 1942 in Delta, Missouri and departed this life on July 18, 2017 at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 74.

Mr. Lemons was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps serving during The Vietnam War. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for General Electric in St. Louis, Missouri for 32 years, a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, a member and past President of the Dexter Lions Club, a member of the Kenady-Hanks Post #59 The American Legion and a resident of Dexter.

On November 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Ann Bryant in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Lemons survives of the home in Dexter, Missouri. 

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Diana Whittington of Dexter; one son, Bryan Lemons and wife Lora of White Oak, Georgia; by five grandchildren, Zack Lemons, Nick Lemons, Josh Lemons, Aleah Lemons and Jake Lemons. 

A Memorial Service will be conducted on August 6, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter at 11:30 A.M.
