Treva A. Lee, daughter of the late Howard Leaman Cantrell and Nora L. Gribble Cantrell was born on September 24, 1950 in New Madrid County, Missouri and departed this life on July 20, 2017 at the Birch Tree Place Nursing Center in Birch Tree, Missouri at the age of 66.

 

Mrs.  Lee was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Charles, Missouri.  She was raised in rural Dudley, Missouri before moving to Birch Tree, Missouri in 1998.  Mrs. Lee has been a resident in St. Charles, Missouri since 2002.

 

On June 8, 2002, she was united in marriage to Gary Lee in O’Fallon, Missouri.  Mr. Lee survives of the home in St. Charles, Missouri.

 

Survivors include one son, Mike Cantrell (Elicia) of Mountain View, Missouri; one daughter, Jannetta DePriest (Sheldon) of Birch Tree, Missouri; two step-daughters, Jenny Middleton (David) of Thornfield, Missouri and Melissa Lee of St. Charles, Missouri; one brother, Willie Powell of Puxico, Missouri; by five sisters, Mary Jo Stearns of Michigan, Norma Lee Smith of Arkansas, Barbara Sue Case, Angela Mays, and Patricia Freed all of Dexter; by seven grandchildren, Luke Thompson, Logan Thompson (Tiffany), Cole DePriest (Chelsey), Ashley Turner, Skylar Maiden, Kesley Cantrell, and Marlie Cantrell; by three great-grandchildren, Levi DePriest, Gracyn DePriest, Macyn DePriest; also by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Cantrell; by two sisters, Jonnie Mae Maddox and Lottie Phillips.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12:30 until 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2017.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday at 2:30 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Greg Bell officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery in Birch Tree, Missouri.

Jerry Allen Sills, son of the late Etchel Isaac Sills and Gladys Imogene Byrd  was born on December 31, 1949 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on July 20, 2017 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 67.

Mr. Sills was the Golf Course Superintendent at the Hank Watson Malden Municipal Golf Course for twenty-seven years.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church and a resident of Bernie.

He was first united in marriage to Sharon Allen on September 1, 1969 in Clarkton, Missouri and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2009.  He was then united in marriage to Joy Hatchel on October 30, 2011 in Bernie.  Mrs. Sills survives of their home in Bernie.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Shari Hay and her husband, Daryl of Doniphan, Missouri and Shelly Lane and her husband, JJ of Jackson, Missouri; by one son Jeremy Sills and his wife Stacy of Malden and by one step-son, Chad Cook and his wife Nicole of Bernie; by three brothers, Gary Sills and wife Bonnie of Malden, Ronnie Vandergriff and wife Rose of Dexter and James Vandergriff of Texas; by one sister, Mary Lou Vandergriff of Malden; by eight grandchildren, Courtney Rawlings and husband Levi, Austin Calvert and wife Liz, Logan Sills, Macy Hanner, Abbey Arnold, Emma Lane, Nick Arnold, Zach Lane; by one step-grandchild, Jadon Cook and by three great-grandchildren, Brayden Reed, Landyn Rawlings and Easton Rawlings.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in DEXTER on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in DEXTER with Rev. Chad Cook officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.    

Glendle Wayne “Red” Becker, 79, of Bernie, Missouri was received by his Lord on July 20, 2017.  He passed away peacefully at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and many loved ones.

Mr. Becker was born December 27, 1937 in Bernie, Missouri to Archie and Mabel Becker (nee Trammell).  He was joined in marriage to Mary Kathleen Hurley on December 27th, 1956 in St. Charles, Illinois and remained happily wed for nearly 61 years.

Mr. Becker attended Bernie High School with the Class of 1955.  He worked at several different jobs over his career but primarily within the automotive field; from which he retired in 2000.  

Wayne was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting and playing pool with his many friends.  His greatest pleasures were enjoying the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and also the fellowship of his church family at the Corner Gospel Fellowship Church in Bernie, where he served in many roles.

He was well known for his fondness of telling jokes; particularly quick one-liners.  Upon being asked by a hospital attendant “How long have you been married?”, he replied “60 years and we only had one argument…and it’s still going on”.  

Mr. Becker is survived by a large and loving family, including his wife Kathy of Bernie, their 5 children: Robin Lawrence (Jesse) of Piggott, AR, Connie Smith (Richard) of Cecilia, KY, Brenda Yarbrough (Glenn) of Dexter, MO, Glen Becker (Angie) of St. Louis, MO, and Bridget Efurd (David) of Lakeland, FL; their 8 grandchildren: Wendy Chronister (Gary), Shalana Beck (Adam), Douglas Baer, Dustin Stringer, Savannah Mason, Sarah Deason (Adam Neal), Rachel Becker, and Tristan Becker; their 6 great grandchildren:  Corbin, Cameron, Gracy, Brennan, Easton, and Elijah.   Additionally, he is survived by 7 siblings: Louis Becker (Joan) of Hartford, WI, Faye Dockins of Malden, MO, Rex Becker (Joannie) of Pembroke Pines, FL, Coy Becker (Wanda) of Bernie, MO, Kay Woodman (Wayne) of Phoenix AZ, Mike Becker (Cindy) of Park Hills, MO, and Jack Becker of Malden, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his father (Archie Louis Becker), his mother (Mabel Magdalene Becker), one sister (Jewel Sue Ann Becker), one brother (Terry Lee Becker), and his brother-in-law (Bobby Gene Dockins).

Funeral arrangements are set for the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie for Sunday, July 23rd with family visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and public viewing and visitation from 10:00 to 1:00.  

The funeral will begin at 2:00 with Bro. Dean Williams and Bro. Gene Wells officiating.  The interment will be at the Bernie Cemetery.  

The family welcomes flowers, and donations can be made to the Corner Gospel Fellowship Church at 311 Walker Street, Bernie, MO 63822. 

William Lemons, son of the late William Russell Lemons Sr. and Maxine Maisel Lemons was born on December 5, 1942 in Delta, Missouri and departed this life on July 18, 2017 at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 74.

Mr. Lemons was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps serving during The Vietnam War.

He was a Maintenance Supervisor for General Electric in St. Louis, Missouri for 32 years, a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, a member of the Dexter Lions Club and a resident of Dexter.

On November 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Ann Bryant in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Lemons survives of the home in Dexter, Missouri.

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Diana Whittington of Dexter; one son, Brian Lemons of White Oak, Georgia; by five grandchildren, Zack Lemons, Nick Lemons, Josh Lemons, Aleah Lemons and Jake Lemons.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Berneice Flanigan, daughter of the late Earl Souders and Gladys Turpin Souders was born on July 8, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on July 17, 2017 in Corning, Arkansas at the age of 93 years.

Mrs. Flanigan was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, a Home-maker, and a former resident of Wappapello, Missouri where she served as a volunteer for twenty-two years.

On September 2, 1976, she was united in marriage to George W. Flanigan in Sikeston, Missouri.  Mr. Flanigan passed away on April 8, 2015.

Survivors include three step-sons, Albert Cottonaro of Lake Egypt, Illinois, Mike Flanigan and wife Dana of Marion, Illinois, and Keith Flanigan and wife Bunny of Tovey, Illinois; by one step-daughter, Patty Dawson and husband Matt; two step-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dylan Dawson; one nephew John Jones and wife Janie; also by two nieces, Carolyn Harold and husband Don and Janet Byrd and husband Richard Jr.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter at infancy, Vivian Ann Maddux.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating.
