Central Elementary 4th Grade School Supply List

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Public Schools will have their first day of classes on Thursday, August 10, 2017 until noon.  Their first full day will be Friday, August 11th.

Registration will be held at the Bearcat Event Center on Monday, July 31st from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

4th Grade School Supplies List:

1 ᾢ Zip around Binder 

4 - Solid color, with holes, pocket folders (NO PRONGS)

Folders: 1 red, 1 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow

1- Box of colored pencils

1- Box of 24 crayons

2- Glue Sticks 

1- Elmer's white glue

2- Red Pen/Pencils (more as needed)

2- Packages #2 Wooden Pencils (more as needed)

1- Highlighter 

4- Dry Erase Markers (more as needed)

2- Pink Large Erasers 

1- Scissors

3- Composition Notebook 

1- Package Wide-Lined Loose Leaf Paper 

1- Pencil Pouch (No boxes)

1-scissors (sharp point)

4-packages of #2 yellow wooden pencils (no decorative pencils)

1-plain, clear, 3-hole punched pencil pouch

2-black dry erase markers

1-highlighter

girls-one box quart size zip-lock freezer bags

boys-one container of disinfecting wipes

2-composition notebook, wide-ruled

4 - pocket folders, 3-hole punched to fit in binder, plain colors, not decorative, no prongs

Waldner Named to First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll
Starkville, Mississippi -  MaKayla Waldner, a 2016 graduate of Dexter High School, was named to the 2016 - 2017 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll representing the sport of soccer.  She is currently attending Mississippi State and earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

MaKayla is the daughter of Bob and Kim Waldner of Dexter, Missouri.

A total of 41 Mississippi State student-athletes were named to the 2016-17 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Wednesday.

 The 41 Bulldogs span 11 sports (baseball, women's basketball, women's cross country, football, men's golf, women's golf, women's soccer, softball, men's track and field, women's track and field and volleyball) and are part of a total 902 student-athletes named to the list across the 14 SEC schools.
 
Soccer led the way, placing an MSU-best seven on the list, with men's and women's track and field both not far behind with six. Women's cross country earned five spots, followed by baseball with four and both football and softball with three representatives.

The SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2016-17 academic calendar.
 
Each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.

Dexter School Board Minutes - Tuesday, June 28, 2017 Meeting
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter R-XI School Board met at the regularly scheduled date and time on Tuesday, June 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.  The next school board meeting will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.  Below are the minutes from the meeting.

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with everyone being present.  He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:   The Consent Agenda was approved. 

Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

Old Business:    The board approved MSBA policies and procedures; ADF, ADF-AP1, and EF-AP1

New Business:
A. The board approved a general fund transfer form fund 1 to fund 4.   

B.  The board approved a general fund transfer to zero-out the special 
    fund balance.  

C.  The board approved a tentative working budget for the 2017-2018 school year.  
  
Discussion Items:
A.  Mr. Miller presented the 2016-2017 transportation summary report.  

B. The bus inspection results were presented to the board.  The 
district earned the Total Fleet Excellence Sticker by passing the 
inspections with a 92% rate.  Congratulations to our 
transportation department.  

C. The MSBA 2017A policy update was presented for the boards review.  

D. Our Jr. Beta Club earned National Beta School of Merit Status.  This information was presented to the board.  Congratulations to our Jr.  Beta Club and sponsors.  

E. The nursing report, prepared by nurse, Linda Milam was presented to the board. 

F.  The July board meeting was set for Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

In Closed Session:
1.  The board accepted the following resignations/retirements:
Ms. Carolyn Davis-Cook and Summer Maintenance Worker-
Retirement date: June 30, 2017
Mr. Kurt Lovelady-HS Boys Tennis-Resignation date: May 28, 2017
Mr. Dan Pollock-HS Principal-Resignation date: June 23, 2017

2.  The board employed the following individuals for 2017-2018:
Ms. Barb Hurley-Paper and Mail Route
Ms. Lauren Powers-Assistant Coach MS Girls Basketball
Ms. Melissa Hahn-Assistant HS Principal

3.  The board approved moving the transportation supervisor from an 
     hourly wage to a salary to comply with Federal Labor Laws.

Young Graduates from Freed-Hardeman University

Henderson, Tennessee - Dexter graduate, Chase Young, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Freed-Hardeman University's graduation exercises Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Chase is a 2013 graduate of Dexter High School.  He is the son of Marty and Christine Young of Dexter, Missouri and Jennifer Young of Tennessee.

In addition to conferring degrees upon graduates, the university presented a master's degree posthumously and the faculty presented the Faculty Scholarship - Leadership Medal, a tradition since 1938.

Freed-Hardeman University is a private university in Henderson, Tennessee. The university traces its heritage to the members of the Churches of Christ who helped build it.
