Pollock Named to Honor's List at Southwest Baptist University

Bolivar, Missouri - Peyton Pollock, a 2015 graduate of Dexter High School was named to the Honor's List for the Spring 2017 semester at Southwest Baptist University.

To be listed on the semester's honor roll, students must carry at least 12 hours of college work at SBU and earn at least a B (3.00 GPA), with no grade below C.

Peyton is the son of Dan and Monta Pollock. 

He played football and basketball all four years of high school and baseball three years of high school.  He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Teachers of American, FCCLA, Dexter Honor Society and National Honor Society.  He also represented Dexter High School at Missouri Boys State.

Peyton is attending Southwest Baptist University on a football scholarship.  His major is secondary education where he will teach and coach.

Southwest Baptist University is a private institute of higher education affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention, which is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2003 there were approximately 3,600 students attending at one of SBU's four Missouri campuses, located in the towns of Bolivar, Mountain View, Salem and Springfield.

McKuin Named to President's List at Williams Baptist College

Walnut Ridge, Arkansas - Williams Baptist College has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s List for the 2017 spring semester. 

The President’s List includes those full-time students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List is comprised of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Melanie McKuin, 2016 graduate of Dexter High School achieved a perfect 4.0 and was named to the President's List.

Melanie McKuin is the daughter of Barry and Kimmy McKuin.

She played basketball all 4 years of high school and ran track her freshman and sophomore years.

Melanie was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Foreign Language Club, Future Teachers of America, Dexter Honor Society, and was in the Top 10% of her class.

She was also voted 2016 Winter Homecoming Queen.

She was a member of the All-State Girls Basketball Team, First Team All-District Girls Basketball Team, SEMO All Conference Girls Basketball Team, SEMO Conference Player of the Year and Standard Democrat Player of the Year during her junior year as a Bearcat!  She was a McDonalds' Shootout All-Tournament Team member and Lady Royals Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team team member for both her junior and senior years.

Melanie is playing basketball and majoring in pre-pharmacy at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Williams Baptist College is a four-year, Christian, liberal arts college. Williams is known for its academic excellence and personal attention, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1, as well as its warm, Christ-centered environment. There are over 500 students on WBC’s main campus at Walnut Ridge, Ark., and a total enrollment of about 600. Most students live in on-campus residence halls and apartments.

Musical Theater Camp Quite a Success

Dexter, Missouri - Musical Theater Camp was held at Dexter High School last week.  Campers worked on a scene from Shrek the Musical on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 

About 30 students from grades 1st through 6th worked each day to perfect their skill.

The singers/actors then put on a performance for their parents, grandparents, and friends on Friday.

Jamie Sepulvado is the music/choir director for Dexter Public Schools.

Three Rivers To Hold Enrollment Event During 5K Fundraiser

Dexter, Missouri - Three Rivers College will hold a Fall On-the-Spot Enrollment Rush event in conjunction with the Raider Run, Walk & Wag 5K Run/Walk fundraiser on Saturday, July 8, in the East Park in Dexter.

The Enrollment Rush will allow prospective Three Rivers students to apply for admission and financial aid on the spot. Staff from Three Rivers – Dexter will be on hand to answer any questions attendees might have about the programs available at Three Rivers.

“A lot of people don’t realize how many classes and programs are available at Three Rivers – Dexter,” said Joe Kenley, Director of Three Rivers – Dexter. “We want to show how easy it is to start building your future, right here in Dexter.”

Registration is currently open for Fall 2017 classes at all of Three Rivers’ locations across Southeast Missouri.
