Rib City Girls Basketball Schedule for Friday

Dexter, Missouri - The first Rib City Girls Basketball Shootout of the summer is slated for Thursday, June 22, 2017 and Friday, June 23, 2017.

The tournament consisting of 47 teams will take place on six courts.  There will be three courts set up in the Bearcat Event Center.  The Dexter High School gym, Southwest Elementary gym, and the Middle school gym will also be utilized.

Dexter Lady Cats will play on Friday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Bearcat Event Center on Court #1 against Pana, Illinois Varsity.

At 1:45 p.m. the quarterfinal game will be placed on Court #1 of the Bearcat Event Center.  The Lady Cats will play Seckman Varsity.

Court 1 semifinal play will be at 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and the final will be at 6:15 p.m.

Dexter junior varsity and middle school girls basketball teams do not play on Friday.

Apply online starting July 1 for a shot at more than 100 MDC managed deer hunts
Apply starting July 1 at mdc.mo.gov/managedhunt for a shot at more than 100 hunts.

Missouri - Beginning July 1, deer hunters can apply online through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) website for a shot at more than 100 managed deer hunts throughout the state for archery, muzzleloading, and modern firearms from mid-September through mid-January at conservation areas, state and other parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public areas. Some managed hunts are held specifically for youth or for people with disabilities.

The managed deer hunt application period is July 1 - 31. Hunters are selected by a weighted random drawing. Draw results will be available Sept. 1 through Jan. 15. Applicants who are drawn will receive area maps and other hunt information by mail.

Get more information on managed deer hunts, preview hunt details, and apply starting July 1 at mdc.mo.gov/managedhunt.

Details about managed hunts can also be found in MDC's "2017 Fall Deer & Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information" booklet available starting in early July at MDC offices and nature centers, from permit vendors around the state, and online at mdc.mo.gov.

Lady Bearcat Basketball Camp 2017

Dexter, Missouri - Lady Bearcat Basketball “LBB” Summer Camp 2017 returns to the Bearcat Event Center June 19th, 20th, and 21st. Girls entering Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to participate.  If you haven't signed up for the basketball camp, the coaches will take walk-ins on Monday, June 19th.

The 3-day camp will feature team concepts, ball-handling & passing instruction, shooting instruction, defensive concepts, ability and age grouping.  There will also be contests and games as well as certificates for contest winners and a camp T-shirt.

The contests include Hot Shot, Free Throw, Chair Dribble, 2 Ball Lay-Ups, Lane Slides, One-On-One and Team Play.

The cost is $25 per athletes and checks are made payable to Dexter High School.  Please mail the check to Chad Allen, P.O. Box 531, Dexter, MO 63841 or bring it to camp with you.  Also let Coach Allen know what grade your athlete will be in as well as a T-shirt size.

Grades
Kindergarten through 3rd grade camp is from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Grades 4th - 6th are 10:00 a.m. - Noon

Grades 7th and 8th are from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Steele, Missouri - Show-Me Martial Arts in Advance, Missouri participated in an open karate tournament in Steel, MO called the Battle in the Bootheel.  Several martial art students earned trophies.
