Dexter, Missouri - The Crowley's Ridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented a Life Saving Award to Mark McClintock, volunteer firefighter and first responder in Dexter.

In recognition of swift action and courage displayed by Mr. McClintock on November 27, 2016 when, with no hesitation, he entered a ditch filled with cold, fast rising, rshing water dressed in street clothes t do all he could to save a life.

A car slid off Arvin Road in Dexter and lay submerged in the turbulent water.  The driver pinned inside with water approaching her chin level.  McClintock held the woman's head above water until EMT personnel arrived on scene to take his place.  He remained in the water working to break a window to bring her through.

More firefighters with special equipment arrived and after eleven minutes the woman was moved from her car to safe ground.

Mr. McClintock, a longtime volunteer member of the Dexter Fire Department, was very instrumental in saving this woman's life.
