Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Saint Francis Healthcare System announces the appointment of Vereline Johnson, RN, MSN, to her new role as system risk manager.

Johnson has been a part of the Saint Francis Family since August 2005 where she has served as the quality and patient safety officer in performance improvement.

Prior to joining Saint Francis, Johnson has worked in many areas of healthcare. She was a candy striper, a nursing assistant and an ICU nurse.

She earned her BSN from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., and her MSN from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind.

BROWN NAMED MANAGER OF INVASIVE/NONINVASIVE CARDIOVASUCLAR LAB AT SAINT FRANCIS

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Saint Francis Healthcare System announces the appointment of Rodney Brown, RN, BSN, as manager of Invasive/Non-invasive Cardiovascular Lab.

Prior to coming to Saint Francis, Brown acted as the CEO at Landmark Hospital, an affiliate of Saint Francis, where he also worked as the Chief Clinical Officer and a Nurse Manager.

Brown earned his associate degree in nursing from Shawnee College and his bachelor’s in nursing from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah and is currently pursuing his MBA from Western Governors University.

SKILLED Otolaryngologist JOINS CAPE ENT GROUP

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Saint Francis Healthcare System is pleased to welcome skilled otolaryngologist and new Saint Francis Medical Partner Christopher H. Jung, MD, to Cape ENT Group, where he joins three fellow ENT specialists. Dr. Jung has been affiliated with the Medical Center for many years through his former private practice, Southeast Missouri Sinus and Laser Center.

Jung earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. He completed both his internship and general surgery residency at Menorah Medical School in Kansas City, Mo., and fulfilled his otolaryngology residency from the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Mo.

Jung comes to Saint Francis with decades of experience and a range of clinical interests, which include allergy diagnosis and treatment; laser technology to treat vocal cord lesions and snoring; and specialized laser treatments for a variety of aesthetic concerns, including tattoo removal. He also has served on a number of medical missions to Honduras, the Philippines and Ethiopia, treating those without access to essential ENT care.

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Saint Francis Healthcare System announces the appointment of Jennifer Kern, RN, BSN, as patient care manager for Family BirthPlace.

Kern is responsible and accountable for the delivery of care, development of policies and procedures, standards of care and protocols, and assigns, directs and evaluates the work of the healthcare providers assigned to a specific area in accordance with the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of Saint Francis Healthcare System.

She has been a part of the Saint Francis team since 2002 and has worked as a nurse assistant in the Level III NICU, a new nurse on medical/surgical, and the last 11 years at the Family BirthPlace with the last year serving as a lead charge nurse.   

Kern earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University.

Proffer Named Info Tech Manager for Ambulatory Services

Cape Girardeau, MO - Saint Francis Healthcare System is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Proffer, BSN, RN, as the new information technology manager for Ambulatory Services.

In this role, he is responsible for the maintenance and optimization of Saint Francis’ electronic medical record, Epic, in the physician practices and clinics. Proffer joined the Saint Francis Family in 2004 and has worked as a staff nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and was instrumental in the launch of Epic in 2016.

Proffer obtained his bachelor’s degree in Bible studies from Amridge University in Montgomery, Ala., and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
