
Dexter, Missouri - Are you ready for some BASKETBALL? The Dexter Bearcats Boys Basketball Camp 2017 is slated for May 23rd, 24th, and 25th. It is open to grades kindergarten through 8th grade. (Boys entering these grades in August 2017). Athletes will receive a Dexter Bearcats Basketball Camp T-shirt.
The basketball camp features team concepts, ball handling and passing instruction, defensive concepts, ability/age grouping, as well as contests and games.
Contests include Hot Shot, Free Throw, Chair Dribble, 2 Ball Lay-Ups, Lane Slides, One-on-One, and Team Play. Each contest winner will receive a certificate.
Kindergarten - 2nd grade camp will be 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
3rd, 4th and 5th grade camp will be 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade camp will be 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
All camps will be held in the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter. The cost is $25 and payable to Dexter High School. Please register by Thursday, May 18th so t-shirts can be ordered.
You can still register the day of camp, however t-shirt may not be available or guaranteed. A group photo will be taken at the end of the camp with athletes in their camp t-shirts. So please register early with Coach Dowdy!

Dexter, Missouri - Three seniors, Olivia Sitzes, Cheyenne Mosby and Kaylee Carey, were honored at the Dexter Lady Cat softball field on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Cheyenne Mosby is the daughter of Angela Mosby.
"Cheyenne is definitely a joy to have on the team. She works hard and is always looking to get better," stated Lady Cats Softball Coach Starla Pulley. "She had played some when she was younger, but came in her sophomore year and has been a great help in our outfield."
"She is not afraid to get dirty and to steal a base," continued Pulley. "She is quick, fast and fearless. She leads the team this year with 8 steals on the season, a .240 batting average and on base percentage of .380."
"I will miss her smile and her personality on the team next year."
She has played softball her sophomore, junior and seniors years at Dexter High School. She also played basketball for the Lady Bearcats all four years of high school.
Cheyenne is a member of the Dexter Honor Society, Sr. Beta Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Foreign Language Club during her high school career.
Her future plans are to attend Three Rivers College and earn a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Olivia Sitzes is the daughter of Tiffany and Chad Massingill and Mark and Kristen Hobgood.
"Olivia is a very hard worker and has a great personality," commented Lady Cats Softball Coach Starla Pulley. "She has been a utility player, pretty much could play any position. She has played right field for us this year and has done a great job for us in that capacity."
"She also has had some big hits this year to help score some runs when needed. Olivia is truly a team player, she is always cheering on everyone and always encouraging. Her sweet personality and disposition and selflessness will be greatly missed."
She has played softball for the Lady Cats all four years of high school.
She is a member of FCCLA, Dexter Honors Society, National Honor Society, and Sr. Beta Club.
Her future plans are to attend Arkansas State University and earn a degree in Wildlife/Marine Biology.

Kaylee is the daughter of Jeremy and Cindy Carey.
She has played softball all four years of high school.
She is a member of the Dexter Honor Society, National Honor Society, Sr. Beta and the Future Business Leaders of America.
He earned First team All-District and First team All-Conference for the past three years. She also earned the Highest Batting Average for the past three years at Dexter.
Kaylee has signed a letter of intent to play for the Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas where she plans to earn a degree.
"Kaylee has had a successful career with the Bearcat softball program," commented Dexter head softball coach Starla Pulley. "She has a sweet disposition and that little smile and tilt of the head when you talk to her just makes her a great all around person.
"She started her Freshman year with a batting average of .194 and through the years has kept improving, by the end of her junior year she had a batting average of .500 and OBP of .544. Her stolen bases have also increased from 3 her freshman year to 11 last year."
"She will continue her softball career at CRC in Arkansas and they are truly blessed to have her as an addition to their softball family."

Malden, Missouri - The Class 1, District 3 Softball Tournament seeds have been set. The Bernie Lady Mules have earned the #2 seed while the Malden Green Wave softball team has earned the #1 seed.
Puxico Lady Indians are ranked third followed by #4 Charleston, #5 Dexter, #6 Risco, #7 Bloomfield, and #8 Richland.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 1st at the Malden High School, the #2 Bernie Mules play #7 Bloomfield Wildcats.
#4 Charleston plays #5 Dexter at 4:45 p.m.
#1 Malden plays #8 Richland at 6 p.m. and at 7:15 p.m. #3 Puxico takes on #6 Risco.
Semifinals are slated for Tuesday, May 2nd at 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. with the Championship game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Malden High School is located at 505 Burkhart St.
