Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors students with Positive Office Referral certificates.
This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.
Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School held their National Honor Society Inductee Ceremony on Thursday, April 27th for juniors and seniors.
Mr. Rybolt, DHS Band Director, performed the introduction and served as the master of ceremony. Mrs. Wiggins spoke about Scholarship, Mrs. Colley about Service, Mrs. Christian spoke about Leadership and Mrs. Guy about Character.
Certificates were presented to each inductee as they crossed the stage in the DHS auditorium. Lemonade and cookies were served in the cafeteria afterwards.

announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with everyone being present, and leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance.
4. Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved.
5. Board Reorganization

Mrs. James convenes new Board of Education and oversees election of Board President who then presided over election of
Vice-President, board secretary, and board treasurer

Rick Williams was elected Board President, Herman Morse was elected Vice-President, Nancy Mayer was elected as Board Treasure, and Laura Miller was elected as Board Secretary.
6. Public Comments: Mr. Bennett-CTA Advisory Representative, shared important information about campus activities and recognitions.

7. New Business:
A. The board approved the Missouri School Board Membership for the
2017-2018 school year at a cost of $7631.
B. Dr. Williams spoke with the board about the Social Studies
Committee recommendations for textbook purchases for the
2017-2018 school year. The board approved the purchase of the textbooks at a cost of $213, 869. 29. Dr. Williams indicated, social studies textbooks had not been purchased for over 10 years.
C. The board approved the employee list for summer school 2017.
D. The board approved resolutions for our retirees. These
resolutions will be presented during the retirement tea on May 4th
at 4:00 in the BEC foyer. Our retirees include; Melanie Stoelting, Dee
Wamble, Teresa Elfrink, Linda Hill, Michele Kirkley, Rhonda Lane,
Regina Mick, Jennifer Miller, Judy Patterson, Elizabeth Spratt, Loretta Morrow, and Derek Urhahn.
E. The date for the May board meeting was set for May 16th at 6:00 p.m.
8. Discussion Items:
A. Dr. Williams spoke with the board in regards to high school course and schedule changes for the 2017-2018 school year.
The monthly report from High School Nurse, Linda Milam was presented to the board.
The building principals or assistants were present and shared a monthly report of happenings in their buildings.
In Closed Session:
1. The board accepted a resignation from Mr. Zac Moore as Freshman and JV Basketball Coach.
2. The board accepted a resignation from Ms. Shena Benton as a Special Services Aide in the SW building.
3. The board approved the following additions to the substitute
teacher list: Jeremy Granger-Substitute Bus Driver.
4. The board employed Shena Benton as a Parent Educator for the 2017-2018 school year.
5. The board employed Amy Pixley as a 5th Grade Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.
6. The board employed Kristopher Chamberlain for a Jr. High Foodball Assistant Coach for the 2017-2018 school year.
7. The board employed Jordan Noyes for a HS Boys Assistant Basketball Coach for the 2017-2018 school year.
8. The board employed Jenni Dewitt for a HS Girls Tennis Coach for the 2017-2018 school year.
9. The classified staff members were rehired for the 2017-2018 School year.
10. The coaches and sponsor were rehired for the 2017-2018 school year.
11. The board approved steps on the salary schedule for certified staff for the 2017-2018 school year.
12. The board approved a 2% increase in salaries for the classified staff for the 2017-2018 school year.
