In Memory of Henry Patterson

Henry Franklin Patterson, son of the late Cecil Ray Patterson and Novella Gilliland Patterson was born on February 9, 1941 in Blodgett, Missouri and departed this life on April 1, 2017 at the John J Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age 76.

Mr. Patterson was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired Truck Driver. 

He was a resident of Bell City, and was known around town as a giving man, who frequently bought coats and jackets, to give to those in need. 

Mr. Patterson is survived by one daughter, Melissa Cherry of Scott City; by five grandchildren; by one great-grandchild and his loving dog, Chase.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Keith Franklin Patterson and by one brother, Cecil Patterson.

A grave-side memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full Military Honors.

In Memory of Mary Ford

Mary Rodgers Ford of Parma, daughter of the late Cecil Buren and Mary Romines Melton, was born in Kennett, Missouri on December 21, 1944, and passed away at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon on April 1, 2017, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 11 days.

She had lived in Southeast Missouri and Parma all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma and had worked in the Deli at Wallace & Owens Supermarket.

She was first married to Dennis Rodgers. He preceded her in death in 1988. She then married Willie Ford in 1991. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Surviving are one son & wife, Dennis Rodgers of Caruthersville; two grandchildren, Katie and Garrett Rodgers; one great grandchild, Grayson Rodgers; and one sister, Susan Rackley of Gideon.

Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Melton.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Parma.

Interment will be in the Parma Cemetery in Parma, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Virginia Forkum

Virginia Forkum, daughter of the late Walter Forkum and Ina Bell Earnest Forkum was born on May 3, 1922 in Powe, Missouri and departed this life on March 27, 2017 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 94.

Mrs. Forkum was a former employee of Elder’s Manufacturing in Dexter for 44 years and a residence of Dexter.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Ray Evans (Betty) of Dexter; by one daughter, Nell Berry of Dexter; by two brother, Elvin Forkum of Dexter and Carol Forkum of Bernie; by one sister, Viola Lay of Dexter; by seven grandchildren; by thirteen great-grandchildren and by two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. 

Services will be conducted on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Martin and Rev. Shane Mallard officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery in rural Dexter.

In Memory of Robert Parrish

Robert Parrish, son of the late Homer D. Parrish and Dianie Ritchie Parrish was born on July 14, 1945 in New Madrid County, Missouri and departed this life on March 24, 2017 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 71 years.

Mr. Parrish was a former owner and operator of a Dump Truck in Dexter for many years and a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include four brothers, Jessie Lee Parrish of Attica, Indiana, Herman Parrish of Collin, Texas, Charles Parrish of Dexter, Terry Parrish of West Lafayette, Indiana; by three sisters, Freda Huddleston of Bloomfield, Missouri, Betty Jordan of New Roads, Louisiana and Connie Albert of Linden, Indiana.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Parrish and Larry Parrish; by one sister, Helen Richardson.

Memorial service will be held at a later date with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Arletha Tilson

Arletha Tilson, daughter of the late J.B. McBride and Ecelner Moncrief McBride was born on May 28, 1926 in Newton, Mississippi and departed this life on March 23, 2017 at her residence in Parma, Missouri at the age of 90.

Mrs. Tilson worked as a payroll clerk for Brown Shoe Company in Bernie for over twenty years.  She also worked at Yorks Department Store in Chicago for twenty years.  She was a member of the Church on the Rock in Sikeston and was a resident of Parma.

In January of 1978 she was united in marriage to Robert Tilson in Bloomfield.  Mr. Tilson preceded her in death on July 30, 2012.

She is survived by two sons, Larry J. Williamson of Memphis, Tennessee and George Jackson of McDonough, Georgia; by one daughter, Maudessa Rose of Naperville, Illinois; by three sisters, Costina Patrick, Rosie Johnson and Emma Evans; by three half-brothers, J. C. McBride, John McBride and Alexander McBride; by three half-sisters, Dorothy Midkiff, Susan Hooks and Patricia “Jones” McBide; by twenty-seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; by one very special niece, Evelyn Perkins.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Williamson Jr., Otis Johnson and Lewis Jackson; by nine brothers, Theodore “MAC” McBride, Henry McBride, Levester McBride, Perry McBride, Purvis McBride, B.J. McBride, J.D. McBride, Leo McBride and one baby boy, James Lee McBride and by one sister, Mary Beal.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. (NOON). 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Christopher Johnson officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery near Malden.
