In Memory of Brenda Gail Lillard

Brenda Gail Lillard, daughter of the late Stanley Leathers and Iris Whittle Leathers was born on November 20, 1939 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on February 24, 2017 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 77.

On November 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gaylon Lillard in East St. Louis, Illinois.  Mr. Lillard survives of their residence in Dexter.

She was the Co-Owner of the Downtown Music and Pawn and was a resident of Dexter, Missouri.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, Tom Burris of Dexter; by two sisters, Danetta Cates of Dexter and Rita Meshell of Fenton, Missouri; by one granddaughter, Carrysa Lillard of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and by one grandson, Nickolas Lillard of Dexter.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Darrell Lynn Lillard and one brother, Calvin Joiner.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter at 2:00 PM with Alan Laszewski officiating.

Betty Phillips, daughter of the late Justin Magee and Ellen Verba Whitledge Magee was born on January 30, 1929 in East St. Louis, Illinois and departed this life on February 20, 2017 at her residence in Bloomfield, Missouri at the age of 88 years.

Mrs. Phillips worked at the Bank of Bloomfield under many different names for 43 years and was a resident of Bloomfield.

On November 11, 1954, she was united in marriage to Byron Phillips in Bloomfield, Missouri.  Mr. Phillips preceded her in death on November 9, 2005.

Survives include one daughter, Nancy Jean Phillips of Bloomfield, Missouri; one sister, Dorothy Launis of Searcy, Arkansas; by two grandsons, Shaun Eric Phillips and Christopher Jon Phillips; by two great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John Wayne Phillips, one brother Norman Magee, and one sister Juanita Magee Capps.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home on Tuesday February 28, 2017 from Noon to 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel with Terry Berry officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Bloomfield Cemetery.

In Memory of Betty Lou Koetting

Betty Lou Koetting, daughter of the late George Ralph Varble and Annetta Williams Varble was born on March 4, 1929 in Leora, Missouri and departed this life on February 21, 2017 at Southeast Health of Stoddard County in Dexter at the age of 87.

She was a former cashier of Bill’s Mini Mart at Puxico and a former employee at The Puxico Handle Mill. 

Survivors include, one son, Terry Hood (Shirley) of Dexter; one grandson, Lt. JG Christopher Hood (Lesleay); one great-grandson, Adler Christian Hood.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Varble and Tony Varble.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. 

Funeral services will be conducted in Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel on

Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:30 PM.  Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.

In Memory of Carolyn Lacy

Carolyn Lacy of Sweet Springs, daughter of the late Stephen Morris and Ludie Mae Burress Clark, was born in Kokomo, Indiana on November 26, 1950, and passed away in Sweet Springs, Missouri on February 22, 2017, at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 27 days.

She had lived in the Sweet Springs, Missouri area for many years. She was a sewing machine operator.

On June 13, 1967, she was married to Daniel Clifford Lacy. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2011.

Surviving are two sons & wife, Daniel C. Lacy, Jr. of Circle City, Missouri, John Allen Lacy (Donna) of Covington, Indiana; three daughters & husbands, Belinda Goodman of Essex, Missouri, Cindy Determan (DeWayne) of Republic, Missouri, Ginger Snapp (Shannon) of Sedalia, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; three brothers James Clark of Davenport, Iowa, Ray Clark of Marysville, Washington, and Ron Clark of Walton Beach, Florida; one sisters, Kathy Lippencopp of Green Valley Arizona. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, and one sister, one great grandson Aiden Habeggar.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2017, after 1:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Pastor Don Hutto of Piedmont, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
