Dexter Wrestling Team Competing in MSHSAA State Championships

Columbia, Missouri - Good luck to the Dexter Bearcat Wrestlers as they have made their way to the MSHSAA State Championships in Columbia, Missouri.

Earning District medals at the MSHSAA Class 2- District 1 Tournament in Ste. Genevieve were Travis Waldner 106, Seth Harris 113, Dawson Jones 120, Matt Stone 126, Jett Featherston 182, and Colton Gibson 195.

Competitions began Thursday morning and run through Saturday, February 25th the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

ShowMe Times Sports Spotlight - Ashlynn Wyman

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Dexter Sports Spotlight shines on Ashlynn Wyman.

Ashlynn is a Dexter Bearcat Basketball Cheerleader and is a senior at the Dexter High School.

She is the daughter of Steve and Jana Wyman. Her grandmother is Cheryl Zimmerman of Dexter, Missouri.

Wyman has been active in Student Council for four years, Future Farmers of America for four years, Top Ten Percent for four years, Future Teachers of America for two years, Sr. Beta for one year, Model United Nations for three years, Honors Choir for four years, and Teens Against Smoking Coalition for two years. In these clubs she has participated as Student Body President, Future Farmers of America Secretary, and Sr. Beta President.

She has been awarded Volleyball Academic All-State and Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year.

In 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 she made the Stoddard County All-tournament Cheer Team.

Her future plans are to attend Missouri State University in Springfield and double major in musical theater and another undecided field of study.

Ashlynn enjoys singing and musicals.

She attends St. Joe General Baptist and serves as captain of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

ShowMe Times Sports Spotlight - Delaney Lemmon

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Dexter Sports Spotlight shines on Delaney Lemmon.

Delaney is on the Kickin' Cats Dance Team and is a freshman at the Dexter High School.

She is the daughter of Shannon Lemmon and JJ Lemmon.

Her grandparents are Mark and Billy Wethington of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Jody and Vicki Lemmon of Dexter, Missouri.

Lemmon has been active in FCCLA and Student Council.

She participates in Refuge at First Baptist Church.

Her future plans are to attend Southeast Missouri State University - Cape Girardeau, MO and earn a degree in teaching.

Delaney enjoys dancing and hanging out with friends.

She attends First Baptist Church.

Kennett Sinks 3-pointer for a Win Over Dexter

Dexter, Missouri - Third time's a charm they say and for the Kennett Indians it proved to be right on Friday night at the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter.  Jad Kenny, a 6'5" center hit a 3-pointer with just 1.5 seconds left in the game securing a 43-40 win. Dexter won their first two encounters in December 63 - 41 and 42 - 39.

It was also Senior Night for the Dexter Bearcats!  Boys Basketball, Kickin' Cats Dance Team, and the Basketball Cheer Program recognized their seniors on their last home game of the season. Each senior will have a separate write-up and will be posted on the ShowMe Times.

For Kennett's Jad Kenny, well it was just his night at Dexter.  He tallied a team-high 17 points, the game winning basket and he earned him his 1,000th point of his high school career during the 4th quarter.

Dexter's Clay Mullins tallied a game-high 21 points.  He was the only Bearcat in double figures.

Alan Pippins and Ben Sindle each recorded one 3-pointer.

Dexter Wins JV Contest Over Kennett

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Junior Varsity boys basketball team pulled off a win in front of a home crowd on Friday evening.  They defeated Kennett 49 - 42.

Haden Hillis recorded a team-high 12 points for Dexter. He and Nate Gargas each contributed a 3-pointer.

Kennett's Laquez Pulliam had a game-high 16 points including three treys.  Joquan Williams also had a trey.

Final Score Dexter 49, Kennett 42
