Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board approved the employment of Charles A. Counts as new Superintendent of the schools for a period of 36 months commencing on July 1, 2017.
On Monday, February 6th, the Dexter Board of Education, following a special meeting in executive session made the announcement.
Counts is currently the superintendent at East Prairie Schools where he has been since 2014. Prior to that position he served as principal of the kindergarten - 8th grade at Twin Rivers Schools.
Counts has also worked in the Advance and East Carter County School Districts.
He is married to Denise and has been a resident of Dexter for many years. His wife is also employed by Dexter Schools as the Central Elementary secretary.
Mr. Counts has more than 26 years of teaching experience and 15 years in school administration.
He was in Dexter on Tuesday morning and met with staff as well as toured the campuses.
