Lloyd “Red” Harris of Bloomfield, son of the late Manuel Everet Harris and Annie Rona Simmers Harris Scowden, was born in Sturdivant, Missouri on March 28, 1931, and passed away at the Bloomfield Living Center Bloomfield on February 5, 2017, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 8 days.
Lloyd had lived in Puxico for many years until moving to Advance in 2011. He had worked as a self employed asphalt contractor and also at Evans Asphalt. He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church near Puxico and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflick. He received the Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
Surviving are two sons & wives, Richie & Sharon Harris of Advance, Schotty &Tracy Harris of Summerville, South Carolina; two daughters and husband, Regina Hale of Puxico, Rhonda & Tony Bostic of McGee; six grandchildren, Mindy Splechter, Alesha Pence, Noah Hale, Joshua Hale, Josh Harris and Chase Harris; seven great grandchildren, Jenna, Andrew & David Splechter, Layla & Gavin Hale, Harley & Haley Pence; two brothers & wives, Bobby & Teresa Scowden of Whitewater, Dewayne & Shirley Scowden of Carthage; two sisters & husbands, Rachel & Buck Carlton and Shirley & Gary McCollough all of Advance. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Eddie Hale, three brothers, Dwight & Donald Scowden, Floyd Harris; and two sisters, Margaret White and Barbara Shell.
Graveside services & full military honors will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Bro. Dale Wiseman of Advance officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of all the arrangements.
