SEMO Conference Wrestling 160 lb Weight Class Results

Dexter, Missouri - On Friday, January 20, 2017 and Saturday, January 21, 2017 the Bearcat Even Center was the location for the annual SEMO Wrestling Conference Tournament featuring Dexter, Jackson, Kennett, Hillsboro, Farmington, Cape Central, Poplar Bluff, Ste. Genevieve, Windsor, Sikeston, New Madrid County Central, North County, and Notre Dame High Schools.

In the 160 lb weight division Dylan Allen of Farmington won by fall over Dalan Thompson of Cape Central in 1:43.

Dexter Outlast Bloomfield to Compete in SCAA Championship Game

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats tallied 12 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to defeat the Bloomfield Wildcats in a semifinal match-up on Thursday evening. 

Clay Mullins finished with a game-high 16 points on six buckets and was 4/11 at the charity stripe.

Jason Jarrell and Ben Sindle recorded 12 points each.  Sindle tallied 4 treys.

Bloomfield paced Dexter in the first three quarters.  They were tied 12-12 at the end of the first and 20-20 at the end of the first half.  Dexter led by 3 at the end of the third.  It was the fourth quarter that Dexter pulled ahead scoring 12 points and finally finishing the game 55 - 42 putting them in the Championship seat on Friday night against the #1 seed Advance.

"That few minutes there was the only part of the game that looked like a basketball game," commented head coach Josh Dowdy.  "Other than that it was a tug-of-war all night long."

Peyton Bell led Bloomfield with 11 points.  He recorded three 2-pointers, 1 trey, and was 5/8 at the free throw line.

Dexter (13-5) will face Advance in the Championship game at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017.  The Bearcats' last SCAA Championship win was in 2012.  Advance hasn't won the tournament since 1978.

Bloomfield will play Bernie for 3rd Place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Bloomfield, Missouri - The #1 seeded Advance Hornets had little trouble out of the #4 seeded Bernie Mules in the semifinal game of the 2017 SCAA Boys Basketball Tournament on Thursday evening.  The Hornets easily defeated the Mules 68 - 39 and move on to the Championship game against the #2 seeded Dexter Bearcats.

Four Advance players finished in double figures.

Armani Vermillion tallied a game-high 16 points on seven buckets and was 2/5 from the charity stripe.

Preston Wuebker recorded 15 points on 7 field goals including one 3-pointer.

Michael Hodd and Dawson Mayo finished with 11 points each. Hodd had four 2-pointers and one 3-pointer while Mayo had five buckets and one free throw.

Bernie's Michael Suiter tallied a team-high 13 points and Nate Dillinger finished with 12 points.

#1 seeded Advance will take on the #2 seeded Dexter in the Championship game of the 2017 SCAA boys basketball Tournament at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017.

#4 seeded Bernie will play for Third Place against #3 seeded Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017.
