
Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bernie junior varsity boys basketball team beat the Richland JV Rebels on Thursday evening in game # 8 of the JV SCAA Tournament. Final score 55 - 23.
Richland recorded their only point in the first quarter with 19.4 seconds left. The Mules also came out a little flat in the first period only shooting three field goals for 8 points.
The second quarter proved to be a little more eventful when the Rebels scored 7 straight points early to tie the game 8-8. Weston Zoll hit a 3-pointer to take the lead 11-8 with 4:00 minutes left in the first half.
Bernie answered back with three treys and 4 field goals to earn a comfortable 9 point lead going into the locker room at the half. Half-time score 21-12.
It was all Mules in the third and fourth quarters. Bernie recorded 18 points in the third and 8 points in the 4th while Richland mustered 7 points in the third and 3 points in the fourth.
Bernie was perfect at the charity stripe hitting 6 of 6.
Bernie's Josh Ellenburg recorded a game-high 16 points. He was 100% at the charity stripe hitting 4 for 4 and tallied six 2-pointers.
Weston Zoll finished with 13 points. He was 2 for 2 from the free throw line, hit one trey and one 2-point field goal.
Richland's Daniel Petty finished with 14 points including 1 trey.
#1 Bernie JV will play #2 Dexter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27th in the Championship game of the 2017 SCAA junior varsity boys basketball Tournament.
#4 Richland JV will play #3 Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27th in the 3rd Place game of the 2017 SCAA junior varsity boys basketball Tournament.
