Bloomfield JV's Strong Performance Earns a Win

Bloomfield, Missouri - With the JV portion of the SCAA boys basketball Tournament underway the Bloomfield Wildcats earned another notch in the win category defeating the Wooodland Cardinals 53 - 40.

They started off evenly matched as it was tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter.  Bloomfield Micael Phillips hit a 3-pointer early in the first period.  At the half Bloomfield led 22 - 12.

Sophomore Travis McCullough led the Wildcats with a team-high 11 points.  He sank three 3-pointers and one field goal.

Gage McNeil also a sophomore recorded double digits as well finished the night with 10.

Karson Skiner led Woodland and was the game-high scorer with 16 points.  He recorded one trey.

Richland JV Beats Puxico JV in Game #4 of the SCAA Tournament

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Richland Junior Varsity Rebels defeated the Puxico Junior Varsity Indians 43 - 31 in the fourth game of Monday nights' SCAA boys basketball Tournament in Bloomfield.

Riley Glass recorded six 2-pointers in the second period to elevate Richland to at 24-17 lead at the half.  Glass recorded a game-high 20 points on 8 buckets and was 100% at the charity stripe sinking 4 for 4.

Michael Burton finished with 10 points on five field goals.

Andrew Geohagan recorded a team-high 9 points for Puxico.  Ethan Helm sank one three-pointer and Jayden Wooverton tallied two treys.

Final Score Richland JV 43, Puxico JV 31

Richland JV Rebels now advance to the semifinals and will play Bernie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26th.  Bernie earned a bye in the first round on Monday evening.  Puxico Junior Varsity has been eliminated from tournament play.

Dexter Cruises into SCAA Tournament Semifinals

Bloomfield, Missouri - It's been five years five years since Dexter has won the SCAA boys basketball Tournament trophy.  They defeated Bernie 54-40 in 2012.  On Monday night the #2 seeded Bearcats cruised past # 7 seeded Puxico 66 - 33.

Dexter jumped out to a 7-0 lead and allowed one field goal in the first quarter to secure their placement in the semifinals of the SCAA Tournament slated for Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Gabe Jackson, 6'4" forward, tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds in the first half. He led all scorers with 27 points, including 14 of Dexter's 20 points in the second quarter.

"Gabe was tremendous tonight," stated Dexter boys basketball coach Josh Dowdy."He posted much better and called for the ball."

"When Gabe Jackson does that, he is difficult to stop," continued Dowdy.  "He also did a great job cleaning up the boards on both ends.  Our team was excited to see that effort out of him tonight."

Junior Dawson Kasting also had a successful night at the rim.  He had Dexter's other six points in the second quarter.  He was 100% at the free-throw line shooting 4/4 and recorded four 2 -pointers.

All eight varsity Bearcats scored against Puxico tonight.  "We were very unselfish tonight.  Gabe made it real easy for our guys to throw it in there."

"We came out and played another complete game," stated Dowdy.  "That is two games in a row that we were efficient on offense, played good team defense and just played with great effort.  We are getting contributions from everyone with a Dexter uniform on."

Levi Woods was the top scorer for Puxico.  He led with 16 points and was the only player in double digits. He sank 4 treys.  Dalton King had 7 points including his one 3-pointers in the third quarter.

Dexter (12-5) will face the winner of the #3 Bloomfield/#6 Woodland game on Thursday, at 7:00 p.m.  Bloomfield will play Woodland on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Puxico has been eliminated from the tournament.

Advance Blasts Richland in SCAA Tournament

Bloomfield, Missouri - The #7 Richland Rebels handed the #1 seeded Advance Hornets a tough first quarter, but that's all they had and eventually they ran out of steam. Five players scored double figures for the Hornets as they eliminated the Rebels 80-46 in the first round of the SCAA boys basketball Tournament on Monday in Bloomfield.

Advance and Richland were tied 6-6 early on.  At the end of the first quarter Hornets 20, Rebels 15.

Dawson Mayo, 6'4" senior led all scorers with 22 points for the Indians.  He recorded half of Advance's first quarter points.

Michael Hood recorded both of his 3-pointers in the second period and finished with 17 points.

Preston Wuebker added 14 points.  He sank one 3-pointer in the second quarter and one in the fourth quarter.

Armani Vermillion finished the night with 11 points.  He hit one trey in the second period and was 100% from the charity stripe adding two.

Carson Miles also tallied 11 points.  He scored ten 2-pointers and two free-throws.

Clayton Harriel led Richland with a team-high 21 points.  He was 3/4 at the charity stripe and hit nine 2-pointers.

Hunter Walker tallied 13 points on three treys and two 2-pointers.

Josh Thornton finished with 11 point.

Richland (2-14) is now eliminated from the tournament.

Advance (15-3) will face the winner of the Tuesday's semifinal between #4 Bernie and #5 Bell City on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in game #10 of the 2017 SCAA boys basketball Tournament.

Dexter JV Open the 2017 SCAA BB Tournament With a Win Over Advance

Bloomfield, Missouri - The 2017 SCAA Bloomfield boys basketball tournament got off to a great start for the Dexter Junior Varsity Bearcats.  They took an early 10-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game against the #7 seeded Advance JV Hornets.

Dexter JV seeded #2 shot well in the first half and held Advance to single digits in each of the four periods.  Half time score Dexter 42, Advance 17.

Playing on the Advance Junior Varsity are freshmen Garrett Crader, Jack Below, Bryce Cook, Hunter Curtis, and Zach Simms; sophomores are Wes Shelby Parker Chubb, Seth Whittley, and Ian Eggimann.  Coached by Dennis Wheetley, Asst. Coaches are Chris Asmus, Ethan Barr, and Dalton Wilson.

Playing for the Dexter Junior Varsity are freshmen Spencer Warren, Brodie Pollock, Logan Wyman, Haden Hillis, Phillip Toledo, and Garrett Henson.  Sophomores are Joe Rice, Nate Gargas, Braxton Foster, and Justin Kenley.

Dexter had four Bearcats in double figures. 

Freshmen Haden Hillis recorded a game-high 16 points on three treys, one from the charity stripe and three 2-pointers. 

Brodie Pollock, 6'2" freshman, tallied 14 points with his six buckets and two free-throws. 

Braxton Foster, 6'3" sophomore,  finished the game with 12 points all on field goals. Phillip Toledo, 6'4" freshman, contributed 10 points on five buckets.
