Missouri - High School Art Students!!!! Missouri State High School Athletic Association (MSHSAA).........They want someone to design their new state music medal!! Win $500 for your Music or Band Department!
"We are asking for your assistance in designing the new medals through a contest. The requirement for the medal design is listed below. The medals will be similar in size to the medals awarded for athletics (medal will hang from a ribbon and not a pin). Deadline to submit your designs will be Friday, February 3, 2017.
Design Requirements for Medals:
Dimension of Medals – Refer to attached photograph for example of sports medal
o District Solo/Small Ensemble (Rating Exemplary and Outstanding)
§ Medal should not exceed 1 ½” diameter with an approximate flange of 1 ¼” (ribbon opening).
o State Large Group (Rating Exemplary and Outstanding)
§ Medal should not exceed 2” in diameter, with an approximate flange of 1 ½” (ribbon opening).
o State Solo/Small Ensemble (Gold, Silver, Bronze)
§ Medal should not exceed 2” in diameter, with an approximate flange of 1 ½” (ribbon opening).
· MSHSAA Name or Logo should be included
· Festival Level (District or State)
· Ribbon design would also be considered
o Ribbons are approximately 32” in length (16” hanging)
o District ribbon should not exceed 1 ¼”
o State ribbon should not exceed 1 ½”
· Deadline to submit designs – Friday, February 3, 2017.
· Designs may be submitted to email@mshsaa.org and place Music Medal Contest in the subject line.
· Prize – a $500 donation will be made to the school with the winning design.
So any student out there that would like to take the time to design a medal, you could get $500 for the choir and/or band program.

Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie School would like to invite teh public and especially families of young children to tour the new preschool facilities.
Their Open House will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Bernie School Parents as Teacher educators and kindergarten teachers will be there to enroll children for preschool and kindergarten screening that is scheduled for March 2017.
There will also be activities for the children: Animals Past and Present, Animal Habitat Displays, Dinosaurs, Building Blocks, refreshments and more!

Dexter, Missouri - MaKayla Brooke Waldner of Dexter, Missouri was recognized for outstanding academic achievement and was named to the Fall 2016 President's Scholar List at Mississippi State University. She has completed her first semester and has a full ride soccer scholarship.
Students are required to be a full time undergraduate student and must complete at least 12 semester hours of coursework with no incomplete grades nor grades lower than a C. President's Scholars are students who earned a GPA of 3.80 - 4.00.
MaKayla is a 2016 graduate of Dexter Senior High School and is the daughter of Bob and Kim Waldner.
