Richard J. Chism, son of the late C.J. Chism and Valerie Byrd Chism was born in Picking, Illinois on November 22, 1948 and departed this life Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on January 15, 2017 at the age of 68.

Mr. Chism was in  Maintenance for Rauch Industry of St. Louis, Missouri and was a resident of Bernie, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Shelby Fowler in New Madrid, Missouri on January 7, 1974.  Mrs. Chism survives in their home in Bernie.

Other survivors include two sons, Everett McDaniel of Alton, Illinois and Edward McDaniel of Summerdale, Alabama; by three daughters, Sonya Zoelzer of Jerseyville, Illinois, Cindy Grimes of Bay Minette, Alabama and Tina Stewart of Summerdale, Alabama; by six brothers, Bill Chism of Flint, Michigan, Tommy Chism, Roger Brown, Mike Brown and Donald Brown all of New Madrid, Missouri, and George Brown of Fenton, Michigan; by two sisters, Susie Lowery of New Madrid, Missouri and Joanie Poindexter of Jonesboro, Arkansas; by Seven Grandchildren, Thirteen Great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M.  

Funeral Services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M.
