Dexter Lady Cats Win Round 1 of District Tournament

Dexter, Missouri - The Bearcat Event Center is the host site of the 2016 Class 3, District 1 Girls Volleyball Tournament. 

Fredericktown (11-13-2) eliminated New Madrid County Central in two sets, 25-13, 25-7.  Fredericktown will take on Perryville on Tuesday, October 18th at 5:00 p.m.  Perryville (18-11-5) had the #1 seed and a bye on Monday evening.

Notre Dame (19-6-3) defeated Kennett 15-14, 25-10 and will compete against Dexter on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

The Lady Bearcats beat Doniphan 25-8, 25-8 on Monday evening.

Addie Kruse recorded a team high 11 digs.  Krysten Garrison tallied 10 digs and Ashlynn Wyman finished with 7 digs.

Bailee Williams had an impressive 22 assists.

Krysten Garrison had 14 kills.  Janie Lindsey had 8 kills.

Bailee Williams had a team-high 4 aces.

Class 3, District 1 Championship is slated for Tuesday, October 18th at 7:30 p.m.

DHS Athletes Medal at SCAA Conference Cross Country Meet

Bloomfield, Missouri - Several Dexter High School athletes earned medals at the SCAA Conference Cross Country Meet held in Bloomfield on Monday.

Emily Ladd earned 1st Place.  Margo Nea earned 2nd Place.  Shelby Smith earned 4th Place and Jonni Hill earned 6th place in the girls division.

Dawson Kasting earned a 1st Place finish.  Lucas Goodrich earned 2nd Place.  Trenten Dean earned 3rd Place.  Sean Rybolt earned 5th Place.  Justin Kenley earned 8th Place and Coby Powers earned 10th Place.

The HS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both took the first place team plaques.

Lady Mules Volleyball Seniors Honored

Bernie, Missouri - Six Lady Mules Volleyball players were honored during Senior Night at the Mule Barn in Bernie.

They are Morgan Baker, Madissen Corbin, Christina Dowdy, Macayla Owens, Mabree Stone, and Kayli Tanner.

Morgan Baker is the daughter of Bub and Lisa Baker.  She is involved in volleyball, softball, cheerleading, Student Council Historian, Beta, Speech and Drama, Class Vice President and FBLA.  Her future plans are to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in early childhood education and be a volleyball coach.

Madissen Corbin is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Corbin.  She is involved in Yearbook, softball, Beta Secretary, FBLA Secretary and Student Council Vice President. Her future plans are to attend college and pursue a degree in physical therapy.

Christina Dowdy is the daughter of Kyle and Maria Dowdy.  She is involved in Beta, FBLA Class Secretary, volleyball, cheerleading, and Student Council Secretary.  Her future plans are to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Malden for two years then transfer to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro to earn a degree in Nursing.  Once she earns her nursing degree she wants to specialize in anesthesiology.

Macayla Owens is the daughter of Richard and Brittney Owens and Jamie Madison.  She is involved in Student Council, Beta, FCCLA, Yearbook, volleyball, and softball.  Her future plans are to attend Arkansas State University to earn a nursing degree and work towards becoming a CRNA.

Mabree Stone is the daughter of Jeff and Carla Stone.  She is involved in Beta, volleyball, Class Treasurer, Internship at Winchester Place. Her future plans are to get into the nursing program at Arkansas State University.

Kayli Tanner is the daughter of Zack and Beckie Tanner.  She is active in volleyball, softball, Beta Vice President, Student Council Historian, Speech and Drama, Class Vice President, Scholar Bowl, and yearbook editor. Her future plans are to attend Harding University and become an occupational therapist.

2016 Class 3, District 1 Girls Volleyball Tournament

Dexter, Missouri - The 2016 Class 3, District 1 Girls Volleyball Tournament is slated for Monday, October 17th and Tuesday, October 18th at the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter.

Perryville Lady Pirates received the #1 seed. Dexter earned the #2 seed followed by Notre Dame #3, NMCC #4, Fredericktown #5, Kennett #6 and Doniphan #7.

New Madrid County Central will face Fredericktown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17th.

At 6:00 p.m. the Lady Bearcats of Dexter compete against the Lady Dons of Doniphan.

Notre Dame will take on Kennett at 7:00 p.m.

Perryville has the #1 seed and will play the winner of the NMCC/Fredericktown game on Tuesday, October 18th at 5:00 p.m.

The second semifinal game will begin at 6:00 p.m. and feature the winners of the Dexter/Doniphan game and the Notre Dame/Kennett game.

The District Championship will be held on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:30 p.m.

Dexter Sports Spotlight - Jackie Kiger

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Dexter Sport Spotlight shines on Jackie Kiger.

Jackie is the daughter of Jerry and Karen Kiger.  She is a senior at Dexter High School.

She is also the granddaughter of Don and Peggy Davis and Robert Kiger, and Berneda Henley.

She has been a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for four years, Student Council for four years, DECA two years, DECA Treasurer, Sr. Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Jackie has lettered in Cheer and Dance all four years of high school as well as Track & Field for three years.

Her future plans are to attend college and earn a degree in Business and Early Childhood Education.
