In Loving Memory of James M. Carlton

James M. Carlton, son of the late Millard Carlton and Margie Corlies Carlton, was born on Sunday December 18, 1938 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday September 11, 2016 in the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 77.

Mr. Carlton was a Veteran of the United States Navy, Chief of Maintenance with the National Park Service, a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Lynn Velander on June 4, 1966 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on April 19, 2016.

Survivors include, one son, Dan Carlton and wife Tracy of Clayton, North Carolina; two daughters, Julie Carlton Pace and husband Bill of River Falls, Wisconsin and Cynthia Carlton Mosbey and husband Dwayne of Licking, Missouri; by one sister, Mary Medlock of Fruitland, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Zayden Carlton, Levi Carlton, Shaley Mosbey and Theron Mosbey; by two great-grandchildren, Dean Mosbey and Alana Mosbey.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannie Olive.

Friends may call at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter on Thursday September 15, 2016 from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. 

Services will be conducted on Friday September 16, 2016 at 12:00  P.M. in the Lighthouse Christian Center with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow in Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
