In Loving Memory of Pat Colleen Tharp

On August 18th, 2016, Pat Colleen Tharp, passed away and went to be with the Lord.  Pat was born on April12th, 1938 to Don and Celia Harris.

Pat always loved to sing and while in high school she and other school mates formed a group that sang at Functions Around Town and ended up with a radio show on Saturdays in Dexter and was followed by Narvel Felts, who she remained friends with her entire life.

Pat was visiting in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1957 where she met and married William Lee Tharp.  The couple had two children after returning to Dexter, Missouri.  The couple left Missouri in 1964, Pat pursued her music career, which flourished from the late 60’s through the 80’s with one detour when her father, Don Harris passed away in 1975, where she took control of Harris Ready Mix in Dexter, Missouri.  The family sold the business and Pat returned to Las Vegas.  In 2000 she returned to Dexter to assist her mother Celia Harris and remained until her passing.

She is survived by her mother Celia Harris of Dexter, her brother, Doug Harris of Arizona, son Craig Lee Tharp of Las Vegas, daughter, Cammy Lynn Tharp of Twin Falls, Idaho and granddaughters Amanda Lynn of Spokane, Washington and Jessica Hicks of Boise, Idaho.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

In Loving Memory of Fred Parker

Fred Parker, son of the late Fred W. Parker and Myrtle Beasley Parker was born on May 31, 1926 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on August 18, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 90 years.

Mr. Parker was a Automobile Mechanic, Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and a former resident of Dexter.

Survivors include two sons, Garry Parker and Larry Parker of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two step-daughters, Joyce Kempf and husband Curran and Pam Lane and her husband Vernon; also by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Edward Lewis; by two sisters, Dorothy Wren and Viola Hamlett.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday August 20, 2016. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Jim Henson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with full military honors.

In Loving Memory Larry Rievley

Larry Rievley, son of  Genevieve and Harold Miller of Dexter and the late William Rievley was born on October 26, 1949 and departed this life on Monday August 15, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 66.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother Steven Rievley of Oregon and one sister Dianne Stanberry of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. Scott Cheshire.  

Interment will follow at the Little Brushy Cemetery at Wappapello, Missouri.

In Loving Memory of Linda Garner

Linda Garner, daughter of the late Jack Adis and Wilma Lorine Brewer McClain, was born at Pascola near Hayti, Missouri on December 18, 1949, and passed away at her home in Dexter, Missouri on August 15, 2016, at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 28 days.

She had lived many years in Modesto, California and moved to Dexter in 1996. She had worked at Tyson Foods before retiring.

On October 28, 1963 she was married to Burl J. Garner in  Tupelo, Mississippi.

Surviving are her husband, Burl J. Garner of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David & A. J. McClain.

Visitations will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 19, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with  of Dexter, Missouri officiating.

In Loving Memory of Rod Bowling

Rod Bowling of Sturdivant, son of Artie Scott and the late Hayden Bennett, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on September 14, 1951, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, August 12, 2016, at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Mr. Bowling had lived in the Stoddard County area all his life. He was a member of the Corinth General Baptist Church near Puxico. He had retired from the Nestle Purina Petcare Company, was a member of the Mingo Men's Ministry and the N.R.A.

On June 12, 1970 he married Judy Meeker in Davenport, Oklahoma.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Bowling of Sturdivant; son, DeWayne Bowling of Jackson; daughter, Amy McCutchen of Sturdivant; his mother, Artie Hatchel of Bloomfield; two grandchildren; three brothers, Steve Bowling and Tim Bowling both of Bloomfield, Kevin Bowling of Parkston, South Dakota; and one sister, Connie Franklin of Bloomfield. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hayden Bennett.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Jim Clark of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
