
Bernie, Missouri - The 2016 Bernie Basketball Camp is slated for Monday, July 18th - Wednesday, July 20th at the High School gym.
Both boys and girls entering 3rd grade - 8th grade may participate. Athletes do not have to attend Bernie School District to be eligible to attend.
Students entering grades 3rd - 5th will have their session from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m..
Students entering grades 6th - 8th will be held from 10:30 a.m. - noon each day.
The cost for the camp is $25.00. Camp t-shirts will also be distributed.
Athletes are to wear clean tennis shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt each day.
They will learn ball handling, shooting, defense, rebounding, and passing. In addition to those fundamentals there will be daily scrimmages.
Each age group will also have daily contests of different skills and an overall camp winner at the end on Wednesday will be announced.
Parents are encouraged to come the last day of the camp to watch the final contests.

Campbell, Missouri - The Bernie Mules scored 4 runs in the first inning on their way to a Class 2, District 1 baseball semifinal win over the Bloomfield Wildcats on Monday evening in Campbell.
"We played pretty well today," commented Bernie baseball Coach Darrin Shipman. "We grinded out some at bats in the first and were able to put some runs on the board."
"It was big to get them and allow Trey to settle in and pitch with a lead," continued Shipman. "He really thre well today and did a great job of keeping the ball down and getting ground balls."
Beck hit a solo home run to left center to start the bottom of the first. Foster had a hit with two outs and Brown beat out the throw form third on a ground ball down the line. Kirkpatrick hit a three-run home run to center to make it 4-0 in the first.
Bernie added a run in the third on a hit by Brock Beacham, a walk to Brown, and intentional walk to Brown (second and third w/2 outs). Dalton Hobgood bet out an infield hit to deep short for a RBI.
Trey Kirkpatrick pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up 0 runs and allowing only 2 hits.

"It was nice to see us play a clean game defensively. We faced a good team that is well coached and their pitcher did a great job," stated Shipman. "Hopefully, we can bring our best effort against a tremendous team in Cooter as we play for the district championship."

Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie Mules improved their record to 16-5 defeated Leopold 9 - 1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Leopold scored a run in the first on three hits. The run scored as Bernie catcher threw out a runner trying to steal second.
Bernie scored 3 runs in the first on doubles by Beck and Kirkpatrick and a walk to Brown and a hit by Hobgood.
The Mules scored three runs in the third on a hit by Beck, hit batter, a RBI-double by Kirkpatrick and a two-RBI double by Foster.
Kirkpatrick had a two-run single in the fourth.

The game was called after five innings due to severe weather in the area.
"We played decently although there were a few plays that we should have made and didn't," commented head baseball coach Darrin Shipman. "We just need to continue to work to clean those up. We hit ok. We just need to keep getting better as we head into the final few weeks before district."
The Bernie Mules will travel to Holcomb on Wednesday. Game time 4:15 p.m. Bernie will host Campbell on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie Mules baseball team defeated Puxico 11 - 1 on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Stoddard County Athletic Association Tournament.
"We played well," commented Bernie head baseball coach Darrin Shipman. "I thought we took some good at-bats and put the ball in play hard."
Bernie scored 4 runs in the first on a double by Beck, RBI singles by Barnett and
Beacham, a single by Brown, and 2-RBI double by Kirkpatrick.
Beck added a home run in the second to make it 5-0.
Bernie scored 6 runs in the fourth on a walk, a RBI triple by Beck, a RBI single by
Barnett, RBI double by Beacham, an error, and a RBI single by Brown.
Puxico scored its run in the fourth on an error, fielder's choice, and a single by Roberts.
Final Score: Puxico 1 Bernie 11

Bernie, Missouri - Cearwater varsity baseball team defeated Bernie 7-2.
"We kicked it around again today. We had three inexperienced pitchers going today and although they did alright--our defense let them down," stated Bernie head baseball coach Darrin Shipman.
Clearwater scored 5 runs in the third on a hit-batter, walk, and one out hits by Alcorn, Holmes and Hillis. A failed double play ball back to the pitcher
prolonged the inning and allowed two runs to score as the throw to second sailed into center field.
Bernie scored its two runs in the bottom of third on a walk to Beck, a hit by Brown, and a two-RBI double by Beacham.
Clearwater added two runs in the seventh off of pitcher Preston Barber. A key error on the right-fielder proved costly for Bernie.
Their big inning started out with a hit-batter and a walk to the bottom of the order and you can't do that," continued Shipman. "Their top of the order made us pay. Their pitcher (Alcorn) threw extremely well and was probably the best pitcher we had faced this year. Hopefully we can turn things around this weekend against very good teams in the Malden Tournament."
