Nadine J. Cartwright

Nadine J. Cartwright of Bloomfield, daughter of the late Alva and Zelva Blanche Hood Strauser, was born near Bloomfield, Missouri on April 20, 1933, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri on May 31, 2016, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Mrs. Cartwright had lived in the Bloomfield area all of her life. She was attended the Union Grove General Baptist Church near Bloomfield. Before her marriage she had worked at Elders Manufacturing as an inspector.

On April 20, 1964, she was married to Clyde Gene Cartwright near Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1976.

Surviving are one son, Sam Cartwright of Bloomfield, Missouri; sisters & brothers-in-law, Gail Stallion of Cape Girardeau, Bo & Marilyn Cartwright and Bill Link all of Bloomfield. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Toots Link.

Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Justin Miller of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Janice Marie Maddox

Janice Marie Maddox, daughter of Mary Robins Armstrong of Zalma, Missouri, and the late Frank Armstrong, was born on January 14, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her residence in Dexter at the age of 60.

Mrs. Maddox operated a cleaning service and was a desk clerk for various motels in the area.  She was a resident of Dexter.

On June 11, 1974 she was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Maddox in Dexter.Mr. Maddox resides at the home in Dexter.   

Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Maddox is survived by two sons; Steven and Wife Marcy Maddox of Columbia, Missouri and Jeffrey Scott and Wife Jenny Maddox of Columbia, Missouri:  by one brother, Gary Armstrong of Zalma, Missouri; by two sisters, Sharon Reeves of Calico Rock, Arkansas and Kim Bennett of Zalma, Missouri; by five grandsons, Skylar, Blake, Tanner, Logan and Nicholas Maddox; and by one granddaughter Adrian Maddox.

Friends may call at the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church in Aid on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 A. M. until 10:00 A. M.  

A Memorial Service will then be conducted at 10:00 A. M. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Liberty Hill General Baptist Church with the Rev. Preston Owens officiating.

Fred C. Halbert

Fred C. Halbert of Dexter, Missouri, died on May 27, 2016 at his residence in Dexter.  He was born on July 23, 1944 at Dexter to Coell and Etta Mae Halbert.   

He and Brenda Joyce Rhodes were married on November 19, 1966 at the Church of God in Lutesville, Missouri.  Mrs. Halbert survives of their residence in Dexter.

Fred was a 1962 graduate of Delta High School.  He received a Junior Accountants degree from Sanford Brown College in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Fred served in the 1221 National Guard Transportation Unit from February 1967 to January 1973. 

He was a Supervisor for Missouri Utilities and AmerenUE for thirty-five years in Cape Girardeau, Chaffee and Dexter, Missouri retiring in July of 2002. 

Fred was a member of the Dexter and Chaffee Rotary Clubs. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Dexter, Chaffee and Scott City.

Loving survivors include his mother and stepfather, Etta Mae and Leroy Temples of Dexter, wife Brenda Halbert of the home in Dexter; two daughters, Theresa and husband Gary Bentley of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Tina and husband Billy Eaker of Delta, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Courtney Bentley and fiancé Jordan Tew and Collin Bentley of Scott City, Missouri and Dillon Eaker of Delta.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Coell Halbert.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. 

Funeral services will then be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Steve Tippin and Gary Gilbert officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Kenneth Pat Brock

Kenneth "Pat" Brock, son of Kenneth Brock and Pauline Brock, was born September 9, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away May 8, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Pat served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. He was a carpenter by trade.

He is survived by Lisa Bell, his lifelong companion; and by her son, Justin Bell and his family. He had one daughter, Dawn from St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, Pamela Brock Wright of Decatur, Alabama, Lisa Patton of St. Clair, Missouri and Beth Brock of Bloomfield, Missouri; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pat attended Living Water Worship Church in Bloomfield, Missouri. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Living Water Worship Church in Bloomfield, Missouri at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Larry White officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations for final expenses may be made to Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home, 125 West Stoddard Street, Dexter, Missouri 63841. Donations will be greatly appreciated.

Mary Louise Burnett

Mary Louise Burnett, daughter of the late James Monroe Snider and Gladys Becraft Snider, was born on December 6, 1931 in Idalia, Missouri and departed this life on May 26, 2016 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 84.

Mrs. Burnett was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

On July 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ralph W. Burnett in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mr. Burnett preceded her in death on June 5, 2003. 

She is survived by two sons, Tim Burnett and wife Lisa of Thayer, Missouri and Adrian Burnett and wife Wanda of Dexter, Missouri; by three daughters, Karen Hardin of Dexter, Missouri, Sue Davidson and husband Davey of Dexter, Missouri and Kandie Lee Funkhouser and husband Ronnie of Smyrna, Tennessee; by one daughter-in-law, Sherry Burnett of Dexter, Missouri; by twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and by her extended family, the employees and residents of Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Burnett; by one brother, Bud Snider; by one sister, Nancy Woodruff; by one great-granddaughter, Emma Baker and two additional great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, Dakota Simpkins; and by one son-in-law, David Hardin.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with John Langley officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
