Jefferson City, Missouri - MaKayla Waldner finished in the top spot and brought home the gold in the 300-meter hurdles at the Missouri State High School Athletic Association State Championships on Saturday, May 28, 2016.
She finished first with a time of 43.61 earning her very last first place finish of her high school career.
"Watching MaK receive her medal was one of proudest moments a coach could ask for, but it was more special because I was her mom," commented head Track and Field Coach Kimberly Waldner. "She has worked hard throughout her HS career and I don't think I'll ever coach a more dedicated athlete then her."
In the 100-m hurdles heat one on Friday MaKayla earned top spot with a time of 14.86. On Saturday she earned a medal for 3rd place with a time of 15.06.
"She was running in first place in the finals, but she hit the 8th hurdle and finished third," commented head Track and Field Coach Kimberly Waldner.
In the 200-meter dash Waldner finished 10th in the state with a time of 26.16.
Waldner also earned a medal in long jump placing 4th with a distance of 17 2 1/4.
Madelyn Webb competed in Shot Put. She finished with a throw of 33-01.25 putting her in 14th place.
Emily Ladd, Emily Page, Rhylan Hillis, and Julia Hahn ran the 4x800 on Saturday. They earned a 10th place finish with a time of 10:16.946.
All six Lady Cats did an amazing job this year! We commend them on their efforts and are extremely proud. Making it to the MSHSAA State Championship is an extraordinary accomplishment. Proud of our Bearcats!
