
Springfield, Missouri - Five Dexter boys tennis athletes did what most dream of and that's to make it to the State Championships. Seniors Ethan Flowers, Joshua Kohlbaker, Tyler Stevenson, and Addison Moore played their final match of their high school career on Friday. Zach Potts will return for his senior season next year.
Ethan Flowers lost to Pembroke Hill's Josh Bortnick in his Round of 16 match 6-0, 6-0 at the double elimination tournament. Flowers also dropped his consolation match to Jasen Neyer of Springfield Catholic 6-2, 6-2. He finished his season with an impressive record of 17-7 in singles.
Zach Potts and Joshua Kohlbaker suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Logan Rogersville's James Ethridge and Jack Gold in their Round of 16 match. Potts and Kohlbaker came back with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 win over Maryville's Joseph Suchan and Trystan Lyle in their first round consolation match. They then suffered a season ending 6-1, 6-2 loss to Kyle Zimmerschied and Cole Lankford of Knob Noster in the consolation quarterfinal. The finish their season with an impressive record of 23-3 in doubles.
Addison Moore and Tyler Stevenson suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Gavin Litherland and Carson Turner of Greenwood. Moore and Stevenson also dropped thier first round consolation match to Chillicothe's Nathaniel McKiddy and Bradon Lamp 7-6(3), 6-0.
