Senior Baseball Athlete Tyler Heil

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School Baseball Team celebrated their Senior Night at the Bearcat Event Center.  With all the spring showers, their last home game was moved to the away team’s location and therefore they moved their Senior Night indoors.

Tyler Daniel Heil is the son of Dan and Connie Heil.  He has played baseball for 13 years including all four years of high school.

When asked what his favorite memory was, “Eating Sunflower Seeds on the mound at Jackson High School.”

His favorite baseball player of all time is Jim Edmonds.

He has played football his freshman and sophomore years, Cross Country his junior year, Baseball and Basketball all four years of high school.

Tyler is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Farmers of America, and Student Council.

His future plans are to attend Missouri State University and Study Ag Business.

Chandler Reid Young is the son of Marty and Christine Young and Jennifer Young.

He has played baseball for 14 years.  His favorite baseball memory was winning the Babe Ruth Midwest Regional and playing in the Babe Ruth World Series.  His favorite baseball player of all time is Robinson Cano.

His future plans are to attend Freed Hardeman University where he signed to play baseball.  Young plans to major in Psychology and minor in Business at Freed-Hardeman.  "I hope to open my own practice, contract out to people, obtain customers and build a business."

Lady Bearcat Basketball Summer Camp

Dexter, Missouri - Lady Bearcat Basketball “LBB” Summer Camp 2016 returns to the Bearcat Event Center June 6th - 8th. Girls entering Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to participate.

The 3-day camp will feature team concepts, ball-handling & passing instruction, shooting instruction, defensive concepts, ability and age grouping.  There will also be contests and games as well as certificates for contest winners and a camp T-shirt.

The contests include Hot Shot, Free Throw, Chair Dribble, 2 Ball Lay-Ups, Lane Slides, One-On-One and Team Play.

The cost is $25 per athletes and checks are made payable to Dexter High School.  Please mail the check to Chad Allen, P.O. Box 531, Dexter, MO 63841.  You can mail a $10 non-refundable deposit with the $15 due at day of camp or send the full amount.  Also let Coach Allen know what grade your athlete will be in as well as a T-shirt size.

Grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade camp is from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Grades 4th - 6th are 10:00 a.m. – Noon

Grades 7th and 8th are from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

2016 SCAA Conference Softball Team Released

Stoddard County, Missouri - The 2016 Stoddard County Athletic Association Conference Softball team has been released.

Those making 1st  Team are Addie Shelton, Morgan Baker, and Jescie McGuire from Bernie; Brittany Brown and Kaylee Carey from Dexter; Bailey Burns from Puxico;  Mara Mayo from Bloomfield; and Hope Green, Madison Cover, and Mara Grindstaff from Woodland. 

Those receiving Honorable Mention are Cymber Arnold of Bernie; Brooke Miles, Kelsie Long, and Kandyce Miffin of Woodland, Chaylea Mosby of Dexter; and Kaytlynn Haynes of Puxico.

2016 SCAA Player of the Year was given to two athletes this year: Bailey Burns of Puxico and Addie Shelton of Bernie. 


2016 SCAA Softball Coach of the Year went to Coach Brad Botsch of Bernie.

April Athletes of the Month Named

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club nominated Kameron Misner and Krisman Eakin as Senior High Athletes of the Month for April.

Krisman, an outgoing sophomore, was a member of the first girls team to win a state title in track in 2015. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the Class 4 200-meter dash. She holds multiple school, conference and All-State records. In the classroom, Krisman maintains a 10.714 GPA.

“She’s an extremely hard worker and a versatile athlete,” girls track coach Beth Lewis-Muse stated.

Kameron Misner of the Class of 2016 signed a scholarship to play baseball for Mizzou. He had a perfect game as an All-American, and was named to the All-Conference and All-District first team. During his senior year, Kameron earned a 10.8 GPA.

“Everyone around him gains from the positive vibe he brings,” baseball coach Steve Edwards said. “Kameron never turns his back on people and will always reach out to help whomever he can.”
