Joseph “Joe” Hutchason, son of the late Joe Hutchason and Lulu Darter Hutchason, was born on October 1, 1921 in Essex, Missouri and departed this life on March 16, 2016 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 94.

Mr. Hutchason was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.  He had worked for the St. Louis Post Dispatch as a photo engraver and was a resident of Dexter.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dexter Bearcats.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.  He entered the service in September of 1942 and went to Fort Bliss for basic training; then overseas for one year in the European Theater, North Africa and Sardinia; and then to Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a motor school instructor for approximately one and a half years.  He was discharged in November of 1945 with the rank of Sergeant.

He was a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge #532 and received his sixty-year pin, the Kennady-Hanks American Legion Post #59 in Dexter, the Scottish Rite of St. Louis and the Shriners of St. Louis.

On July 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Roberta Morris in Dexter, Missouri.  Mrs. Hutchason survives of the home.

He is also survived by two sons, Ron Hutchason of Wappapello, Missouri and Morris Hutchason of Florissant, Missouri; by one daughter, Cindy Brake of Paragould, Arkansas; and by thirty-one grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 20, 2016 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 3:00 P.M. with Dr. Barry Winders officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
