Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter junior varsity boys basketball team finally entered the Stoddard County Athletic Association Tournament this evening against the Advance JV Hornets. The Bearcats had a bye in round one in the JV bracket.
It was quite an explosive game, tensions were high for a junior varsity competition, but both teams wanted to compete in the championship game tomorrow night. Unfortunately only one team can remain on top and that was the Bearcats taking the sting out of the Hornets 60 - 45.
They were tied 12 all at the end of the first period. Going into half-time Dexter led by only one point, but the second half all belonged to the Bearcats. Offensively they recorded 34 points. Defensively they held Advance to just 19 points.
Dexter's Kole Kelley #3 was hot tonight recording a game-high 18 points all on 3-pointers. Seth Rogers #10 another powerhouse for the JV Bearcats tallied 15 points including two treys. Dawson Kasting #24 helped propel Dexter to a win contributing five buckets for 10 total points.
Carson Miles #20 for Advance tallied 17 points and was 5/8 at the charity stripe. He was the only Hornet to hit double digits. Michael Hood #3, Braiden Brown #10, and Drew Fowler #14 each recorded one trey.
