Bloomfield, Missouri - Senior basketball athlete, Noah Vandiver, was honored on Friday evening between the junior varsity and varsity game against the East Prairie Eagles with a rather extraordinary accomplishment.
The unexpected recognition brought tears to the basketball player's eyes when he was handed a commemorative basketball from teammate Nathan Newell in front of a full house of Wildcat fans. The two athletes have been playing basketball together since the third grade.
Noah claimed that he couldn’t have achieved this record without all of his teammates.
Vandiver is only the seventh player in Wildcat school history to record 1,000 career points in basketball and the first since Leighton Hensley in 2010. He currently sits in the top six in school history for career points.
Vandiver hit his 1,000th point at the Wildcats vs Advance game on December 18, 2015.
Noah is the son of Jeff Vandiver and Sharon Vandiver.
