THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST WEDNESDAY.
THIS ADVISORY COVERS SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND THE ADJACENT KENTUCKY COUNTIES... AS WELL AS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI... PARTS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS... AND AREAS FROM FULTON TO MURRAY KENTUCKY.
* ACCUMULATIONS... FROM TWO TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED. SLEET WILL BE MIXED WITH THE SNOW AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND CLOSE TO THE TENNESSEE BORDER.
* TIMING... SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS BY MIDNIGHT... THEN THE REMAINDER OF THE REGION AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE SNOW MAY COME DOWN RATHER HARD FOR A FEW HOURS. THE SNOW WILL END EARLY ON WEDNESDAY.
* MAIN IMPACT... THE SNOW WILL READILY STICK TO PAVED SURFACES... CAUSING A RAPID DETERIORATION OF TRAVEL CONDITIONS. THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL LIKELY BE VERY HAZARDOUS.
* OTHER IMPACTS... VISIBILITY WILL LIKELY BE UNDER A MILE DURING THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW.
