Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club has selected soccer player Jeffry Hardin and cross-country runner Katie Sliger as Athletes of the Month for November.

Sliger was the Poplar Bluff Invitational and Jackson Invitational sophomore champion. She made All-Conference, All-District and was also a state qualifier. She is the first female at Senior High to break 20 minutes in the MSHSAA Class 4 state meet – a 5k. In the classroom, Sliger maintains an 11.40 GPA, including honor classes.

“One of the hardest working athletes I know, (Sliger) is extremely self-disciplined and goal oriented,” cross country coach Beth Lewis-Muse said.

Hardin, a junior, scored 19 goals and 14 assists during the 2015 season, adding to his career total of 63 goals and 38 assists. He was an All-State honorable mention in 2015 and made the second team in 2014; All-Regional and All-District first team during the 2014/15 season; and first team All-Conference in 2015 and second team the previous year.

Soccer coach Steve Edwards described Hardin as a leader on the field, adding: “He brings the level of play up for everyone he is around.”

Presenting the awards last week is Booster Club President Jason Smothers.
