Kathryn Lay
Kathryn Lay, daughter of the late Alexander and Oma Bowman McRoy, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on September 6, 1921, and passed away at the Bertrand Nursing Center in Bertrand, Missouri on November 7, 2015, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 1 day.

She had lived in the Bloomfield area all of her life. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield. She had been a baby sitter and loved children.

On October 30, 1940, she was married to Hugh Lay in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband, Hugh Lay of Bloomfield, Missouri; three daughters & spouses, Sharon & Robert Jones of Sikeston, Missouri, Debbie & Dale Parks of Dexter, Missouri, Bonnie & Roger Gibbs of Bloomfield, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two brothers, Bill McRoy of Bloomfield, Missouri, Bob McRoy of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and one sister, Mary Gilbee of Overland, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Griffin and several brothers and sisters.

Friends may visit on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, after 11:00 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Ronnie Stevens of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow at the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Lena M. Smith

Lena M. Smith, daughter of the late Charles W. Redfairn and Blanche Manning Redfairn, was born in Hazleton, IN on February 8, 1922 and departed this life at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on November 6, 2015 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a member of Sadler Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Dwight Smith in Kennett, Missouri on June 14, 1941. Mr. Smith preceded his wife in death on February 14, 2007.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Dwight Smith & wife Liz of Grassy, Ronald Lee Smith & wife Sue of Doniphan, Larry Charles Smith & wife Brenda of Bloomfield and Rickie L. Smith of Batesville, Arkansas; by one sister, Lettie Redfairn Blaize of Preston, Indiana; by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Redfairn, C.W. Redfairn and Earl Redfairn; by three sisters, Lura Reeves, Lois Sanders and Helen McGee; also by one great-grandson, Stephen Cole Smith.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri on Tuesday morning, November 10, 2015, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral Services will then be conducted at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter, with Rev. Shannon W. Smith officiating. 

Interment will follow in Sadler Chapel Cemetery. 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Franklin LeMay

Franklin LeMay son of the late John LeMay and Leslie Gray LeMay was born on September 10, 1933 in Bellgreen, Alabama and departed this life on November 7, 2015 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 82.

Mr. LeMay was a Veteran of the United States Marines and served during the Korean War.  He worked in commercial construction and was a resident of Dexter.

On April 4, 1955 he was united in marriage to Mary Stults in Iuka, Mississippi.  Mrs. LeMay survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Kim Moore of Neelyville; by one brother, Talmage LeMay of Red Bay, Alabama; by one sister, Wanda Blackwell of Tennessee and by one grandson, Eric LeMay.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Joel LeMay; by one daughter, Cathy Ogelvie and by one brother, J.O. LeMay.

Funeral services were conducted at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Eva L. Pruett

Eva L. Pruett daughter of the late Jess Nelson and Bertha Matlock Nelson was born on April 26, 1922 in Hartman, Arkansas and departed this life on November 8, 2015 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 93.

Mrs. Pruett had worked for Brown Shoe Company and was a home-maker.  She was of the Baptist Faith and a resident of Dexter.

In 1962 she was united in marriage to Thomas Jay Pruett in Morehouse.  Mr. Pruett preceded her in death in January of 2001.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth and wife Jill Jones of Dexter; by one step-daughter, Lois Lutes of Morehouse; by two brothers, Ed Nelson and Carl Nelson both of Nashville, Tennessee; by one sister, Maggie Carter of Dexter; by six grandchildren, Martina Dannenmueller, Christina Jones, Gary Lutes, Coraletta Jackson, Jacob Dannenmueller and Caden Dannenmueller and by two great-grandchildren, Allison and Belle Jones.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Nelson.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Malloy officiating.

Evelyn Simpson
Evelyn Simpson, daughter of the late Rufus John and Mary Tune Moore, was born in Chaonia, Missouri on December 24, 1915, and passed away at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri on November 7, 2015, at the age of 99 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Evelyn had been a resident of the Wappapello and Puxico areas all of her life. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a past worthy matron, serving three terms. She had been a volunteer at the Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar bluff and she enjoyed cooking, especially chicken & dumplings and fried pies.

On April 30, 1932 she was married to Albert Earl Simpson. He preceded her in death on June 1. 1983.

Surviving are three sons & spouses, Robert & Violet Simpson of High Ridge, Missouri, Harold Simpson of Puxico, Missouri, Earl & Jean Simpson of Scott City, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

Other friends and relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter in law (the daughter she never had), Georgia Simpson, two brothers and four sisters.

Friends may visit on Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday November 9, 2015, at 10:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Tim Schultz of Wappappello, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
