Karley's First Deer

Karley Kerperien shot her first deer this weekend during the annual Youth Hunt in Missouri.

Karley is the daughter of Joey and Amy Kerperien.

She's going to be a great hunter!

Congratulations Karley!

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, dates for this year's early youth hunt weekend were Saturday, October 31 through Sunday, November 1 and will be again January 2 - 3, 2016.

Shooting hours are one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.

Boys and girls must be at least six years of age and no older than 15 on opening day of the early youth hunt.

Antler point restrictions do not apply for youth anywhere in Missouri during the 2015, special youth hunt weekends. All youth hunters and their adult mentors must wear a hunter orange hat and shirt, vest or coat. Only one deer may be taken during this youth hunt. If a youth hunter has more than one permit they should use the additional permit(s) during the regular firearms, alternative methods or later youth season.

Chef Pierre Sauvaget Celebrates 50 Years
Santa Monica, CA - As our local artist, Joe Craig asked, "Who is Pierre Sauvaget?".  The reply from Chef Pierre was very simple and sincere, "I am a servant"!

Those words are a tribute to a man that has spent the past 50-years serving others through his gift of culinary art.   Pierre is a person that believed that each morning dawned a new opportunity to bring happiness to others through his skills in the kitchen.

Pierre's experience began in the early days in the family charcuterie prior to his formal Master's training in France.  He later served as the Executive Chef at the exclusive Bel Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades for 23 years.  Other professional contributions include such notable Los Angeles restaurants as Citrus, La Vie en Rose and Marriott's LAX Theme Room.

Folse Culinary Insitute at the University of Thibodaux and numerous other charitable dinners.

Chef Pierre has set in incredible example of one that would never refer to his career as a job.  He approaches each and every day with excitement.  He continues to serve with a great passion to help people, delighting in the happiness he brings to them through his craft.

Chef Pierre will be teaming with his close friend, Chef John Folse, again this year at the 7th Annual Dining By Design in support of the Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center in Baton Rouge.  Pierre is one of six nationally renown Chefs to participate in this event each year.

Chef John Folse is the host of the "Taste of Louisiana" and "After the Hunt" cooking shows on PBS television.

Pierre is married to Renee Hedrick Sauvaget, formerly of Dexter.  Renee and her Dexter family (Maxine, Alan, Tracy, Zach and Morgan Hedrick) extend their congratulations to Pierre in celebration of his 50 years as a Top Chef in kitchens around the world.

50th Wedding Anniversary of Love

Submitted to the ShowMe Times

August 19, 2012 - Mr. & Mrs. Tom Love of Dexter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past week.  Tom treated his bride to a nice dinner at the Eagle Pass Winery in Wappapello.

Tom Love and the former Carmen Hulehan were married August. 19, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, Missouri.  The couple began dating in college at the University of Missouri-Columbia after being introduced by a mutual friend, Francie Thorn.  The couple enjoyed their college days at MIZZOU and remain life long fans of the Tigers.

The wedding was a true family affair with the bride's uncle Homer Lee Stallings Jr. performing the ceremony.  Brothers, sisters and friends composed the wedding party.

The couple spent their honeymoon at the luxurious resort and spa in beautiful Van Buren, Missouri, with their first meal together as newlyweds at the famous Jolly Cone.

After their marriage, Tom entered the Marine Corp and was stationed in Quantico, Virginia, Pensacola, Florida, Milton, Florida and Beaufort, South Carolina.  Upon the completion of his military service, the couple returned with their young family to Southeast Missouri and Tom began his career as an agricultural lender.

Tom continues to work in his semi- retired position as a farm credit lender in the Dexter area.  He currently is working part-time with First Midwest Bank of Dexter, assisting with farm loans.

They are the parents of two daughters, Tommie R. Love of St. Louis, Tracy Love Hedrick of Dexter, and one son-in-law, Alan Hedrick.  They also have four grandchildren, Zach and Morgan Hedrick and Nathan and Matthew Durfee.

In lieu of the traditional 50th Anniversary event, the couple were accompanied by their family members on an Alaskan Cruise.  Leaving from Seattle, the trip consisted of ports of call in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia.

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Keirsey and Mrs. Bailiff!!
Wednesday, Dec. 21 is the birthday of two ladies who are not only great friends, but who have given much to the young people of the community. Today is the shared birthday of Betty Keirsey and Delores Bailiff.  Mrs. Bailiff served 12 years on the Dexter Board of Education. That’s in addition to the 14.5 years she spent as a teacher in the district. Mrs. Keirsey has served on the Board of Education 19 years and is still serving! And they are the "ultimate Bearcat fans" - attending ball games, concerts and special events at the schools. A special cake for the two ladies was shared at Tuesday evening's meeting of the Dexter Board of Education, Unfortunately, Mrs. Bailiff was unable to attend. But Mrs. Keirsey was there, ready to enjoy the birthday cake! Birthday wishes to both ladies - and many thanks for your hard work and dedication to the young people of our community!
