Virginia G. Parker

Virginia G. Parker, daughter of the late Loy Riley “Pat” Patterson and Talitha Ann Aslin Patterson, was born on January 18, 1922 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on October 30, 2015 at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 93.

Mrs. Parker was a member of the Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and also a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter for many years.

She had worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker and was a former resident of Dexter.

On December 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Arthur Bryant “Archie” Parker in Dexter, Missouri.  Mr. Parker preceded her in death on March 9, 2001.  She later married Ale Clifford Cato who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Bryant Parker and his wife Celeste of Spearfish, South Dakota and Michael Loy Parker and his wife Dawn of Sikeston, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Andrea Parker, Gregory Parker, Geoffrey Parker and Jennifer McCoy; and by five great-grandchildren, Aden Parker, Elise Parker, Henley Parker, Elizabeth McCoy and William McCoy; and by four step-daughters, Pamela Horton, Sandra Cato, Janet Cornelius and Amy Reynolds.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Patterson and Loy Riley Patterson, Jr.; and by six sisters, Patsy Ann Patterson, Pauline Hardy, Opal Campbell, Ruth Swindle, Loyce Reed and Barbara Mouser.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. 

Funeral services will follow at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. David Ross officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
