Shirley A. Ham
Shirley A. Ham, daughter of the late William Alexander & Willa Jeffrey Proffer Gwin, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on July 8, 1935, and passed away at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on October 18, 2015, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Ham had lived in Bloomfield all of her life. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield. She had worked as a waitress at Tucker's Restaurant in Bloomfield and was an active member of the Dexter Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, sewing and crocheting.

On October 18, 1952, she was married to W. A. "Bill" Ham in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1997.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki L. Bridges of Bloomfield, Missouri, Danita "Nita" A. Bedell of Nassau Bay, Texas, Denise A. Moline of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her special friend, Robert Kirkland of Dexter.

Other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Deloris Mae Gwin in 1992 and one brother, James Lee Gwin in 1989.

Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

A Dinner celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Dexter Eagles Aerie.

Betty Jackson

Betty Jackson, daughter of the late Harry Litzler and Marguerite Ostoff Litzler, was born on May 17, 1932 in Dudley, Missouri and departed this life on October 17, 2015 at Mulberry Manor in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 83.

 

Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church in Aid, Missouri where she was the former treasurer and clerk.  She was a former employee of Fram Filter in Dexter, a homemaker, farmer, cake decorator, gardner and belonged to the Aid Extension Club.  Her family was a former Stoddard County Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year.

 

On May 26, 1951, she was united in marriage to John D. Jackson in Piggott, Arkansas.   Mr. Jackson survives of the home in Dexter.

 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David Jackson and his wife Marilyn of Dudley, Missouri and Steven Jackson and his wife Tammie of Dexter, Missouri; by two daughters, Patricia Vandeven and her husband John from Bloomfield, Missouri and Pam Stuever and her husband Jim of Dexter, Missouri; by one sister, Donnis Gant of Dudley, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, John Isaac Vandeven, Kris Vandeven, Jennifer Hartlein, Erin Brown, Julie Richardson, Stephanie Jackson, Amy Irvin and Michael Irvin; and by nine great-grandchildren.

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ulys Litzler.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. 

 

Funeral services will follow in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Lester Clayton officiating. 

 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Clifford Norman Condict

Clifford Norman Condict the son of Gilbert Earl Condict and Allie Lucinda Davis Condict was born in Essex, Missouri on July 15, 1927 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on October 14, 2015 at the age of 88.

Mr. Condict had served his country in the United States Navy, had owned and operated a farm until 1970 and had then worked at Arvin Meritor in Dexter, Missouri until his retirement. 

He was united in marriage to Velda Mae McGowan in Piggott, Arkansas on March 1, 1950.  Mrs. Condict preceded her husband in death on April 20, 2003.

Survivors include three sons, Norman Donald Condict, Clifford Condict Jr. and Barry Wayne Condict all of Bernie, Missouri; by three daughters, Judy Carolyn Arnold of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Lela Ann Smith and Susan Lee Reif both of Bernie, Missouri; by 15 Granchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren and 13 Great-Great-Grandchildren; also by other relatives and many friends.

Other than by his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Condict, Clyde Condict and Carl Condict; by five sisters all in infancy.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, October 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Dale Hartle officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Robert Michael Becker
Robert Michael Becker, age 49, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, October 2, 2015 at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born October 6, 1965 in Festus, MO, the son of Larry Gene and Barbara Courtney Becker. Robert was a overland truck driver for AF Transportation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Robert was a member of Center Grove Methodist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of Desert Storm.

Robert is survived by his parents, Larry and Helen Becker and Barbara and Jim Partney, his wife, Christy McClure Becker, three sons, Logan, Cody and Adam Becker, two daughters, Cassidy Purtle and Chelsea McKay, two brothers, Scott Becker and Dustin Partney, two step brothers, Larry and David White, three sisters, Melissa Becker, Lisa Arnold and Kristi Jackson, and two great grandchildren, Carter Lawrence and Amelia McKay.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Center Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Langley officiating.

Interment with military honors was held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Easley Cemetery.

Thelma Idabel Oliver

Thelma Idabel Oliver, daughter of Lester Medlin and Gracie Allen Medlin, was born on August 27, 1924 in Bernie, Missouri and died October 6, 2015 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 91.

During the depression years, Thelma helped her family sharecrop by picking cotton, chopping cotton and pitching hay.  She was employed at Campbell Filter for many years.  She loved to make people laugh and in spite of her declining health, she never lost her sense of humor.

She was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ for nearly seventy years.  She loved the Lord and during her long life, she taught many people about the gospel message.

On September 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Billy Lee Oliver in Piggott, Arkansas.  He continues to reside in Dexter, Missouri.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by their only child, Vicki Hopgood and her husband Terry of Rolla, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Aaron Hopgood of Rolla, Missouri and Allison Rogerson and her husband Christian of Balikpapen , Indonesia; by six great-grandchildren, Grace Rogerson, Noah Rogerson, Jackson Rogerson, Cooper Rogerson, William Rogerson and Samuel Rogerson; by four sisters, Mildred Carlton of Dexter, Missouri, Melba Ward-Walker of Bernie, Missouri, Louise Dye of  Kennett, Missouri and Bonnie Brigman of Aurora, Colorado.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford Medlin, Clecy Medlin, Welton Medlin and Donny Ray Medlin; and by two sisters, Eva Embrey and Wilma Walker.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Clyde Jacques officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri.

The family requests that donations be made to Crowley’s Ridge Youth Camp, c/o Children’s Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
