Wanda Jackson
Wanda L. Jackson, 87, was born in Risco, MO on April 3, 1928 to Luther H. and Elsie Mae (Bridges) Woolard and departed this life on September 25, 2015, at Cypress Point Nursing Home in Dexter, MO.

Wanda's family moved from Risco to Puxico when she was in the 8th grade, and she graduated from Puxico High School in 1946.

Wanda was united in marriage to Gerald E. Jackson on May 18, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas. She was very much involved in their farming and dairy operation in Aid, MO while also working as a seamstress at Elder's Manufacturing in Bloomfield and Dexter for over twenty years.

Upon retiring from farming, she and Gerald moved to Dexter in 1991.

Wanda was a former member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church, Aid, MO and a current member of the Risen Church in Dexter, MO.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald, of 69 years. Also surviving is her daughter, Barbara Duckworth (Clinton), Dexter, MO; her sons, Ken Jackson (Jamie), Dexter, MO, and Mark Jackson (Kim), Bloomfield, MO; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Blanche Lee, Higginsville, MO.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Winfred Woolard and Raymond Woolard; and a son, Ron Jackson.

Wanda was devoted in raising their four children, attending activities of her grandchildren, and supporting her church. She took great pride in cultivating large gardens and sharing her delicious fried chicken, cheeseburgers with home-grown tomatoes and onions, and homemade pies with her family and friends.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from NOON until 2:00 P.M.

Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Harper Cemetery in Aid, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home in Bloomfield, MO, the Dexter Oaks Nutrition Center in Dexter, MO or the charity of your choice.
