Under the leadership of Coach Leonard Morse, the team will compete against some of the best cross country runners in the state.
"We looked at it as we needed a feeder program because if we don't get the runners until they are sophomores they are already three years behind," Coach Morse said. "The top schools in our district are running in the seventh grade and have middle school programs in place so we needed a feeder program."

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football Athletes. Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player an done defensive player who will be features as Players of the Week.
Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.
This week several athletes contributed to the successful win over the Charleston Bluejays; however only two players were chosen.
The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the Players of the Week are Ethan Stevens and Corbin Strong.
The Offensive Player of the Week for a second week in a row is #7 Ethan Stevens. Ethan ran up the middle for 61-yard touchdown in the first few seconds of the game. He then scored a 17-yard touchdown, a 12-yard touchdown, 23-yard touchdown, and another 12-yard touchdown and passed to Austin Chesser for a 38-yard touchdown.
Ethan had 8 carries for 167 yards; average of 20.0 yards per carry. He completed three passes for 122 yards; his longest a 53-yarder.
Ethan also had three total tackles including two tackle assists.
“Ethan had an amazing game,” commented head coach Justin Peden. “Almost three hundred yards of offense and five touchdowns. It speaks to the time he put in this summer and the time he spends studying film. I am very proud of him.”
The Defensive Player of the Week is #31 Corbin Strong.
Corbin had 12 tackles and 1 tackle assist during the game against Charleston. He had two sacks for a loss of 12 yards.
Corbin is a freshman at Dexter High School and well on his way to a great high school career in football.
“For a freshman to have 13 tackles in a game is amazing,” continued Peden. “Corbin is a great young man who has an extremely bright future in football.”
Congratulations to both of these two fine young men on their accomplishments.
The Bearcats will be back in action when they take on Sikeston on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Charles Bland Stadium. Game time 7:00 p.m.
"I could tell it was our third day in a row playing in this heat," commented head tennis coach Kurt Lovelady. "As I thought, Poplar Bluff came out playing a little different than they did on Monday and we ended up having some closer matches. I think they girls adjusted well though and fought hard for the matches we got."
