Marie Hubbard
Marie Hubbard, daughter of the late J.A. Sharp and Gertrude Keaton Sharp was born on October 3, 1928 in Gosnell, Arkansas and departed this life on May 29, 2015 at the Southeast Health of Cape Girardeau at the age of 86.

Mrs. Hubbard was owner of Hubbard’s Jewelry which has been located in Historic Downtown Dexter for decades. She had attended the Dexter Church of Christ. She was recognized as Business Woman of the Year by the Dexter Chamber of Commerce.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women Organization, the Soroptimist Women’s Volunteer Organization, worked with the American Red Cross, getting service members home, and was a founding member of the Dexter Hospital Auxiliary or “Grey Ladies” as it was called when it was first formed. While she served in various organizations in town, her greatest achievement was her two girls, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

On July 6, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Bryan Hubbard in Osceola, Arkansas. Mr. Hubbard preceded her in death on May 30, 1976.

She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Jamie and Jim Cook of Dexter and Sheila and Ronald LeGrand of Dexter; by her loving companion for many years, Bruce Belvin; by four granddaughters and their spouses, Ann-Marie and Kevin Mitchell, Ronda and Ahsan Jameel, Mendy and Christian Bell and Amy and Dave Ellinghouse and by nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 12:00 P.M. NOON until 2:00 P.M.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Greg McGhee officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
