Ethan Stevens Wins Golf Sectional, Advances to State Tournament

Sikeston, Missouri – Ethan Stevens not only secured medalist honors, but came in 2 under par 69 on the Par 71 course at the Class 3, Sectional 1 at Fox Haven Country Club in Sikeston on Tuesday.

Stevens ranked first with Gabe Wheeler of Sikeston coming in second.  Wheeler shot one-over-par 71.  Third place went to Kobe Franklin of Cape Girardeau who shot four-over-par 71.

Farmington placed first in team competition with a score of 320.  Sikeston placed second with a team score of 330. 

The top two team scores and top 12 individual scores will advance to the State Tournament slated for May 18th and 19th at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar, Missouri.

Waldner and Kronk Named Athletes of the Year
Dexter, Missouri - Each year Dexter High School hosts their annual Awards Assembly.  Mr. Dan Pollock made introductions and Mr. Derek Urhahn presented athletic awards. 

Some of these awards had already been presented at sports banquets held throughout the year and others were new awards.

Most notable awards were given to the top female and male athletes.  MaKayla Waldner was presented the Female Athlete of the Year and Noah Kronk earned the Male Athlete of the Year.

Stevens and Mitchell Qualify for Golf Sectionals

Farmington, Missouri – Ethan Stevens and Drake Mitchell qualified for golf sectionals to be held on Monday, May 11th in Sikeston.

Stevens tied for sixth place and Mitchell tied for 13th place at the Class 3, District 1 golf tournament at Crown Pointe Golf Course in Farmington.  Stevens shot nine-over-par 81 and Mitchell shot 13-over-par 85.

Farmington won the tournament with a team score of 319.  The best 15 individuals qualify for sectionals and the top two teams move on.

Lady Cats Track Team Earns First Place in SEMO Conference

Charleston, Missouri - The Dexter girls track team brought home several top honors at the SEMO Conference high school track meet in Charleston.

The Lady Cats finished first overall as a team.

DMS Baseball Team Wins East Prairie Spring Showdown
East Prairie, Missouri - The Dexter middle school baseball team placed first in the East Prairie Spring Showdown this past weekend.

Dexter beat New Madrid Count Central 15-0 and Bernie 7-3 to reach the championship. 

They then defeated East Prairie 11-9 in the championship game.

The team is coached by James Sneed and Kyle Williamson.
