George W. Flanigan

George W. Flanigan

George W. Flanigan, son of the late Oak Flanigan and Effie Fite Flanigan, was born on September 10, 1925 in Carbondale, Illinois and departed this life on April 8, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital in Poplar Bluff at the age of 89.

Mr. Flanigan was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter.  He had worked as a truck driver and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II and the Korean War.

On September 2, 1976, he was united in marriage to Berneice Souders in Sikeston, Missouri.  Mrs. Flanigan survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mike Flanigan and his wife Dana of Marion, Illinois and Keith Flanigan and his wife Bunny of Tovey, Illinois; by one step-son, Albert Cottonaro and his wife Jean Ann of Lake Egypt, Illinois; by one brother, Jake Flanigan of Carbondale, Illinois; by one granddaughter, Patty Dawson and her husband Matt; and by two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dillon Dawson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Flanigan.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Monday, April 13. 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.  Arrangement are being handled by the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.

Randy Glenn House, son of the late Samuel Tony and Wilma Jean Keller House, was born in London, Kentucky on November 20, 1964, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on April 8, 2015, at the age of 50 years, 4 months and 19 days.

He had lived in the Dexter area area most of his life and was a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. He had worked as a farm hand.

Surviving are three brothers, Rick House, Kenneth House and Christopher House all of Dexter, Missouri; four sisters, Rita House of Dexter, Missouri, Ruth Boerman and Lee Ann Pereales both of Holland, Michigan, and Barb Ridell of Pullman, Michigan. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Friends may visit on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter.

Memorial services will follow at 4:00 pm at the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter with Rev. Ray Rowland of Dexter officiating.

Private family interment will be later in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri.

Jo Ann Wheeler
Jo Ann Wheeler, daughter of the late Elmer Reynolds and Ella Giltner Reynolds, was born on January 25, 1945 in Brookport, Illinois and departed this life on April 5, 2015 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 70.

Mrs. Wheeler was a homemaker.

On June 26, 1965, she was united in marriage to Marvin Wheeler in Harrisburg, Illinois. Mr. Wheeler survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Earl Wheeler and wife Kristi of Sullivan, Missouri; by one daughter, Denita Shipman and husband Shannon of Dexter; by one brother, Dale Reynolds of Harrisburg, Illinois; by two sisters, Barbara Lareau of Cape Coral, Florida and Brenda Trammel of Harrisburg, Illinois; by four grandchildren, Sarah Tolbert, Alex Morgan, Harli Wheeler and Ty Wheeler; and by one great-grandchild, Jaxon Slavings.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Barbara Lou Mayhall, daughter of the late Henry Albert and Evelyn Jewell Walker Cagle, was born in Dexter, Missouri on December 25, 1953, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on April 6, 2015, at the age of 61 years.

She had lived in Abilene, Texas for many years before returning to Southeast Missouri one year ago.

Surviving are one son, Josh Mayhall of Abilene, Texas; five brothers, Norman Walker of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Bill Cagle of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Junior Cagle and Wayne Cagle both of Bloomfield, Missouri, Gene Cagle of Dexter, Missouri; two sisters, Lavern Fargerson of Shreveport, Louisiana and Shirley Douglas of Branson West, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, one brother, Clinton Cagle and one sister, Gonda Buckalew.

Friends may call on Friday, April 10, 2015, after 1:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will be in the West Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

"Tina" Charlotte C. Scott, daughter of Flossie Mae Webb Thrasher and the late Ollie Lavern Thrasher, was born in Dexter, Missouri on March 24, 1959, and passed away at her home in Dudley, Missouri on April 7, 2015, at the age of 56 years and 14 days.

She had lived in Campbell and Naylor before moving to Dudley, Missouri in 2009. She loved flowers and her family very much.

On March 28, 2009, she was married to John Scott in Dudley, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband, John Scott of Dudley; one son, Tim Loyal of Doniphan; one daughter, Brittany Nard Riley of Bloomfield; her mother, Flossie Mae Thrasher of Dudley; four grandchildren, Zander Loyal, Isaac Loyal, Abel Riley and Sophia Riley; four brothers; David and Steve Thrasher both of Neeleyville, John Thrasher of Georgia, Cy Thrasher of Moscow Mills; six sisters, Mereda Ezell of Campbell, Betty McRoy of Piedmont, Brenda Reed of Neeleyville, Alta Mallory of Mississippi, Lou Harless of Kennett and Denise Kellum of Gideon. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Stout and Sue Crum; and one brother, Bill Thrasher.
