Raymond Walker

Raymond Walker

Raymond “Sug” Walker, son of the late Jessie Raymond Walker and Mayme Reynolds Walker, was born on May 10, 1945 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on March 25, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 69.

Mr. Walker worked in construction doing carpentry and concrete work.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam.

On June 29, 1968, he was united in marriage to Melody Carson at Elgin, Illinois.  Mrs. Walker survives of the home.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Jeff Walker (Lora) of Dexter, Missouri and Travis Walker (Angela) of Corona, California; by one daughter, Tracyee Ellis (Ronnie) of Dexter; by one brother, Tom Walker of The Villages, Florida; by two sisters, Peggy McGowan and Felma Condict, both of Florida; by seven grandchildren, Derek Walker, Michael Allen, Mason Allen, Jayson Ellis, Jaycob Ellis, Anastasia Walker and Zara Walker; and by one great-grandchild, Addyson Ellis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Walker, Bobby Walker and Don Walker.

The family requests that memorials be made to Fisher House, VA Medical Center, 1 Jefferson Barracks Road, St. Louis, Missouri  63125.

Arrangements are being handled by the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Jimmy Dale Adams

Jimmy Dale Adams, son of the late Robert Lee Adams and Ora Young Adams Townsend, was born on January 18, 1942 in La Forge, Missouri and departed this life on March 25, 2015 at his residence in Bernie, Missouri at the age of 73.

Mr. Adams was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church in Kennett, Missouri.  He was retired from the ministry and a member of the Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

On May 25, 1967, he was united in marriage to Terry Cowsert in Dexter.  Mrs. Adams survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard Adams of Peoria, Illinois and Dan Adams of Clinton, Illinois; by one daughter, Jennifer Wolpers of Dexter; by four brothers, Bob Adams of Bernie, Harold Adams of Hanna City, Illinois, Larry Adams of Dexter and Gerald Adams of Meadville, Mississippi; and by five grandchildren, Roman, Ethan, Trevor, Allison and Layla.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Myrna Kay Adams.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:30 with Rev. James Lashley and Rev. David Henderson officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Donnie Wayne Hill
Donnie Wayne Hill, son of the late William and Harriet McKeller Hill, was born in Parma, Missouri on December 10, 1957, and passed away at his home in St. Louis, Missouri on March 13, 2015, at the age of 57 years.

He had been raised in Parma and Essex area and moved to St. Louis 25 years ago.  He had graduated from the Richland Public Schools. He had worked at the Renaisance Hotel in St. Louis.

Surviving are five sons, Markel, Donnie Jr., Kenzo, Kerenzo and Ethan Hill all of St. Louis, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; four brothers, Ben Hill of Chicago, Illinois, Ernest Hill of Marion, Indiana, Charles Hill and Chester Hill both of Essex, Missouri; four sisters, Betty Gay of Bernie, Willie Bailey of Malden, Mabel Jacobs and Annie Thompson both of Essex, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, James, Marvin, Johnny and Calvin Hill; two sisters, Mary Burks and Mildred Hill.

He was laid to rest on Saturday March 21, 2015 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Daren Lee Pulliam

Daren Lee Pulliam, son of Virgil Lee (Pamela) Pulliam of Wappapello, Missouri and Carolyn Sue (Gill) Morgan Abbott of Essex, Missouri was born on May 19, 1978 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on March 22, 2015 in the Emergency Room at Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter at the age of 36.

Mr. Pulliam was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.  He had formerly worked for Randy Kinder Excavating, Inc. in Dexter, was a resident of Bernie and a veteran of the United States Army.  Daren was a musician and loved playing the guitar.

On January 21, 2015, he was united in marriage to Wendy Cobb in Dexter.  Mrs. Pulliam survives of the home.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by one son, Haydn Paul Owens of Bernie, Missouri; by three daughters, Haleigh M. Pulliam and Morgan L. Pulliam, both of Blodgett, Missouri and Alyssa Pulliam of Puxico, Missouri; by one step-son, Jake Hanner of Bernie, Missouri; by one step-daughter, Rileigh Hanner of Bernie, Missouri; by three step-brothers, Robert Taylor of Wappapello, Missouri, Casey Abbott of Fisk, Missouri and Randy Taylor of St. Genevieve, Missouri; by two step-sisters, Erica Abbott of  Fisk, Missouri and Jennifer Derousse of St. Genevieve, Missouri; and by his maternal grandmother, Wanda Morgan of Essex, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. 

Funeral services will be conducted at the Christian Lighthouse Center on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Shirley Faye Duffie

Shirley Faye Duffie, daughter of the late Sylvester Grigery and Maggie Parr Grigery, was born on September 18, 1935 in East Prairie, Missouri and departed this life of March 22, 2015 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 79.

Mrs. Duffie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bernie.  She had worked as a supervisor at Brown Shoe Company and was a resident of Bernie.

On June 15, 1979, she was united in marriage to Raymond L. Duffie in Bernie, Missouri.  Mr. Duffie survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sharlette  (Joe) Watson of Dexter and Debra (Randy) Silliman of Slidell, Louisiana; and by one son, Charles (Geneal) Evans, Jr. of Bernie; by one stepson, Terry Duffie of Little Rock, Arkansas; by two brothers, Wesley Grigery of Troy, Missouri and Leslie Grigery of Sikeston; by eight grandchildren, Jarrod (Lia) Watson of Nashville, Tennessee, Kyle (Beth) Watson of Murfeesboro, Tennessee, Chad (Dena) Silliman of Dexter, Missouri, Tracy Botsch of Bernie, Missouri, Jessica (Dustin) Hylton of Slidell, Louisiana, Jordan (Brittine) Evans of Florissant, Missouri, Brad (Linda) Duffie of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Bryan (Jeanne) Duffie of Jonesboro, Arkansas; by sixteen great-grandchildren, Justus and Dakota Silliman, Macie and Kerri Botsch, Reese, Rylee and Luke Watson, Adley Jo, Tatum, Will and Ellory Watson, Kaylin, Kylee and Kolston Hylton and Nathan and Phillip Duffie.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Roy Grigery and Sylvester Grigery, Jr. (deceased in infancy); a step-son Timothy Duffie, and by four sisters, Kathryn Miller, Thelma Metheny, Sylvia Mae Oliver and Lucille Fouts.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dale Hartle officiating.

 Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery
