Stoddard County, Missouri - According to the Weather Channel we are in uncharted circumstances noting that the U.S. has not had one tornado during the month of March.  This is quite unusual for our area; however the first decent threat of severe thunderstorms this spring is in play Tuesday and Wednesday as two low-pressure systems ripple northeastward along a cold front from the southern Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley.

Here is a look at the daily details:

Tuesday: Scattered severe storms should develop by late afternoon from far eastern Kansas and western Missouri to northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. This broken line of storms should then push east into the evening toward the mid-Mississippi Valley. Damaging wind gusts and large hail appear to be the primary threats, though a tornado cannot be ruled out.

Wednesday: Scattered severe thunderstorms should again break out by mid-late afternoon, this time near the intersection of a bulge in a surface dryline and cold front in Oklahoma, north Texas and southeast Kansas. During the evening, this activity is expected to form a squall line and push across central and southern Missouri and at least northern Arkansas. Damaging winds and large hail will again be the primary threats, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.
